Amazing kolsch offering from Brewer's Art.

Smells of tremendously fresh malted grain. Just a bit of haze to the rich, golden amber color. Potent, delicious aroma never fades.

Served in appropriate glassware.

Incredibly easy drinking, no off-putting bitterness or odd flavors. Tremendous body, smooth to drink but not watery either. Addicting.

Appearance: light orange in color with a 1/4" head that slowly falls to a spotty surface foam.

Smell: light grass and a hint of lemon is all you can detect.

Taste: mildly grainy profile with some lemon zest, grass, and a mild bitterness. Well balanced.

Mouthfeel: lighter in body. Very crisp throughout. Nicely refreshing. Clean aftertaste.

Drinkability: great session beer. Easy to quaff - this nice version of a kolsch.

A- Nein pours a darker color than I would expect from a Kolsch... almost a medium amber. T'was delivered from the bar with a nice finger and a half of white head. Was served in a pint glass (as opposed to the traditional cylindrical glass)

S- The first thing that strikes me is the presence of some low-alpha hops in the nose. Next, I am finding the nose to be more crackerlike than I would expect from a Kolsch...

T- Not surprisingly, the Nein does not taste like a traditional Kolsch; it is sweeter that I would expect. Despite this, I am rather enjoying this flavor. It is bursting with pale malts and breadlike flavors, and very well balanced with some low-alpha hops.

M- This beer is coming-off with a nice medium body; somewhat creamy.

D- Refreshing... I'd almost call it a "restorative". Flavorful and balanced. I could drink this all night.

NOTES: Part of me wants to disagree with the classification of this beer as a Kolsch... I would expect a Kolsch to be lighter in body and flavor. But this offering from the Brewer's Art is quite delicious nonetheless. Highly recommended.

Pours a clear amber gold. I get a lot of grain on the flavor. A bit of a bite really. The carbonation bites too. I don't claim to be a kolsch expert, but this seems to be a bit intense for the style and not quite as smooth as I would expect. It's still nice to drink though.

I had this on draft at the brewpub, enjoyed chilled in a willybecker.

The color is golden with light chill haze and thin white head with fine bead. The smell is malt dominated with slight floral aroma from the hops which is inviting with mild yeast ester and some herbal elements. The feel is very good with moderately high carbonation and low sweetness wtih gentle spice texture with semi bitter middle and dry smooth finish.

The flavor is great with lots of pilsner malt flavor and slight yeast mineral augmenting the mild spice from the hops ...good amount of yeast complexity with mild fruitiness intertwined with the herbal floral hops in the dry almost mineral finish. Overall I liked this a lot, the only drawback to me was it is a bit highly carbonated making it seem more bitter than it is but very drinkable and a good example of the style overall.

On draught at their pub, served in a tall tumbler, Nein! is gold with a big-bubbled white head that leaves no lace.

Nose is very muted, a hint of grassy hops.

Taste is light cereals, a hint of caramel, crisp and clean.

Mouthfeel is light and crisp.

Drinkability is good, it's a well made kölsch, true to style.
