The limit for all was a 4pk. I am glad they did let you purchase some. I think due to the amount of people they have working that they have to put the break in between. At the BB GBS release I waited in line for over an hour to get some. I am sure the GBS release this year will be even longer....

The only sour I had before was the Tart of Darkness and hated it I have a supplication coming so I wanted to try and get my pallet warmed up for it. I absolutely loved it and probably will be back for another.

Cool! Thanks for clearing that up. Makes more sense now. I couldn't undertand if I was getting scolded or not. Decided to take my 4pk & get the heck out. The lady ringing my up was nice but the other guy not so much.

They could just be watching the VCU game though and you interrupted him LOL. They are beating the brakes off Butler. They have always been nice on the releases I have gone to. Hope you do come back again!

The Randall is ridiculous. Vanilla beans coffee cocoa nibs and ginger.

Pallets of bottles left. Expecting a drunk Vcu crowd very soon.

we opened a bottle this morning after the release.
the Makers Mark barrels are an immediate improvement on the Bowmans barrels they tend to use. a touch thin on the mouthfeel for my tastes... the sidamo bean/roast is different than what one may be used to in a coffee stout. I liked it.
wish I could have gone back in the afternoon to try the randall, sounds great.

Comparing it to regular Sidamo, how's the mouthfeel? I had two complaints with the regular version - thin mouth and light on the coffee. How's the BA version in both of those departments?

already commented that it is a touch thinner than I would personally prefer.
Bourbon County Coffee and BA Kopi Luwak this is not - the coffee flavors are not in your face. is that due to the roast level, the amount of coffee in the brew, or both? this coffee bean has a slight berry finish and chocolate tones that I think go well in the beer. it does need to be drank on the warmer end for the coffee notes to fully express themself.

all that said, I like this brew.

Just got a pack of four bottles yesterday! :-) I have a question, would it be alirght to cellar these beers?

Thanks for the info. I was looking for more direct comparison to regular Sidamo, though. I've heard rumor that the coffee is more forward in BA than normal, or that the barrel affected the thickness some. I know regular Sidamo is thinner and not as coffee-forward, just looking to see how the BA compares to it.

Absolutely the abv is high enough that you can cellar them if you would like. I would be curious to see how some age would affect these being it is a thinner milk stout base, but the big bourbon flavor and alcohol burn should mellow nicely with some age on these. cheers.

Having had both, you don't get more coffee i the BBA version because of the barrel aging. Im not a coffee drinker so I actually like the BBA version better, but if you were looking for more coffee compared to the sidamo, don't think this is going to satisfy you there because, especially fresh, the bourbon is very forward with lots of remnants from makers mark. The BBA version is not as thin though, as typical with most BBA versions of beer, the barrel aging adds more weight to it and it's a full percent higher in abv than your regular sidamo. A bit thicker than the sidamo, but still the same milk stout base so by no means a heavy, thick stout.

Feel like i just did a full review on the brew, hope that answers your question. cheers
