In South America (at least Colombia) they sell a popular liquor called Aquardiente in juice boxes as well. Very licorice tasting and I wasn't a big fan.

Pretty sure Coors had a beer in a bag many many years ago. It might have been a test market thing but I know I saw it.

In PR there are all sorts of alcohol drinks in bags and I have seen wine bags in TN.

    Enjoy

Just found a "Wine Pouch" yesterday!!! Didn't look at it till I was told what exactly it was. I only glanced over it 'cause I thought it was a Capri Sun! Biggest problem I see is what a 22 oz beer pouch would look like.

I can't speak for China but in Thailand they serve soft drinks in bags all the time, and yes you drink it straight from the bag...with a straw of course.

It's all well and good until some brewery decides that 'pouch-conditioned' is the next big thing and there are exploding pouches everywhere....

You beat me to that one...I was thinking the same thing!! Not to mention sippy cups can be washed, used again, and we can drop 'em when we fall down and not spill or break anything! :stuck_out_tongue: (Next up...a beer didy!!)

I wouldnt count these BeerPouches out if I was you, though I remember saying: "THE HELL I WILL" when I first saw them. As a traditional brewer, and a bit of a purist, I was perhaps the LAST person who would adopt these things...and then I used one.

It's great to see folks discovering what we have known for years, however it never ceases to amaze me how people with zero experience have the strongest opinions on a subject. Would you guys mind if an opinion was posted with actual real user knowledge?

We Love these things, and if you ever tried one, you would too. For whatever its worth, our customers go absolutely nuts for them. Product differentiation is one very important factor in remaining competitive and if you want to stand out on the shelf, you might reconsider your penchant for the same old containers grandpa used.

Far as we can tell, this BeerPouch thing is going to revolutionize the packaging of carbonated beverages worldwide. The world is not flat, and you need not fear the unknown. If you don't like skunky beer, then eliminate light and oxygen...the BeerPouch does just that, far better than your bottle ever willl. There is NO AIRSPACE in a pouch...very hard to find an oxygen molecule if you don't have air. The pouches are opaque and this eliminates light damage.

We have been using the BeerPouch in our operation for years, ever since we came upon their prototypes at GABF, so I am going to stick up for them in the face of some of this sillyness. First off, the pouch has nothing to do with "The Big Guys" in fact it was started by a small company in Alaska, a place with some of the highest per capita density of breweries in the world. They are dang innovative up there. We get ours from beerpouch.com

For those who are truly concerned about the environment, you will be disappointed to learn that your bottles and cans are the WORST example of a beer sponsored environmental catastrophe. Only a small number really get recycled and the cost of production is at a heavy price on our planet. Ever seen a bauxite strip mine before? You can make about 40 pouches for the amount of aluminum it takes to make one can. These pouch type packages are on every shelf of the grocery store these days...ever wonder why? THEY ARE BOTH ECOLOGICAL AND ECONOMICAL!

The BeerPouch (and virtually all pouch packages) have a far lower carbon footprint than either bottles or cans, not to mention that when empty, these things ship flat as a dime (unlike the other standard). This lightweight option means greatly reduced shipping cost and that means more profit on our beer.

The part we like is that it eliminates both light and oxygen from our beer. Our glass growlers come six in a box, they are an expensive, breakable pain in the A** to work with, but the BeerPouch flexible growlers come 400 to a box. The savings in space is worth considering, and the ease to our customers is a great sales feature.

Sometimes glass is just not appropriate, for example in beach areas or poolside...enter this BeerPouch as a superb option. They mention in the promotional material that it is easy to pack off a glacier, and we think the average drinker will find them much easier to pack in...and pack back out.

They are less expensive than glass, unbreakable, no BPA, and contrary to some assertions we have tested the hell out of them and there is absolutely no flavor transference at all, (meaning no plastic flavor) and the package is regularly reused and sanitized.

The pouches have a screw top, not a straw for crying out loud...they stand upright like a bottle or can and they are tough. Very easy to drink or pour from.

The world is round, and though we pride ourselves on being traditional brewers our main responsibility is to the flavor of the beer. THIS is why we use the BeerPouch...oh...and we make a higher profit...that might fit in there somewhere...

In closing, there are some people who just will not pay $10 bucks for a glass growler, and that means we are missing out on the sale. With the BeerPouch Growler, they don't have to make this investment. It is an inexpensive alternative (Wholesale cost can be less than 2 bucks) and the convenience is not lost on the customer.

This is our experience. We have seen several versions made since we started and the newest ones are the best by far. Perhaps you should risk a couple bucks and prove it to yourself.

That is just plain silly. Perhaps you would rather have light and oxygen in your packaging? Maybe it's that you would like to pay more? Is it the broken chards you are partial to? The beerpouch is less expensive, holds the beer fresher, will not flavor the beer and eliminates the two main enemies of beer. Consumers love them and if you had ever tried one, you would too. This was a product MADE BY CRAFT BREWERS FOR CRAFT BREWERS, just so they could get on the shelf without amortizing the expense of a bottling line over time. This is an ecological improvement on the standard with a greater profit margin for the brewer. A good brewer wants good flavor and is not mired in the past when it comes to good beer in the present. This pouch is like a vault for flavor and until you have used them, isn't it sort of asinine to throw up your hands and condemn it? I have to admit, I took a first glance and muttered a similar thing to myself, but now that we have been using them...no doubt this thing is a winner.

So how is it that they lay flat as a dime if they have a screw cap? Obviously there must be some hard plastic threading and a cap, which I couldn't imagine being as flat as a dime, or even 10 dimes. It sounds more like you are trying to sell me a box of these pouches rather than sharing your personal experience. Until my favorite breweries start packaging their brews in them I will walk right past them with a smirk on my face. I'll take a can any day

I don't know enough about the environmental concerns to comment on that.

I could imagine though that it would make shipping beers way cheaper. Less gas used, saving space, etc. That seems good.

I most of all care about quality. If I can get my IPAs fresher and last longer because of this, I'm all for it. Heady already uses cans, which shows that cans aren't only for macro brews. Why discriminate against a new vessel for beer just because a "pouch." I'm open for better beer.

it was the coors light party ball. a sad miserable failure.
now if they took those things and made them refillable, then you'd have something.
