    To Levi above:

"edit: one thing that concerns me is that the number of respected traders has seemingly decreased, either in absolute numbers or relative to the greedy noob hordes. wonder what's going on there."

I wouldn't go so far as to consider myself a respected trader, but as a relatively long-term trader here (three years, many trades and a handful of BIFS) who keeps a low profile, I can say that not only do I barely ever post anymore, but I only very occasionally respond to ISO's and very rarely post FT's. Just doesn't seem fun anymore when I respond to posts offering up exactly what is being sought and get back a response like "that is what everyone is offering..." I don't love auctions or getting fleeced, so I pretty much just shoot random boxes to people who have treated me well over the years and occasionally jump in a BIF or swap with an old trading partner. I've found it is enough to scratch my trading itch and keep me happy.

I won't argue this, But the big difference to me, personally, is limits. Even at CBS release it was a 2 bottle limit. Some went back through 2 or 3 times (really have to be sneaky), at $18 each, but that's still only 6 bottles. Someone goes back 3 times at RR and it's 18 bottles. I don't blame people for wanting to get a good value, it just irks me when people act like its just as easy for us to get all these "shelf beers". Not true, especially in Chicago. I was on multiple lists for BCBS and KBS, and got 5 bottles of each, because they were sold as singles. If you weren't on lists a month ahead, and there when it can in, you were SOL. Shelf beer = in the back room, never to see a shelf.

I actually liked that beer. Also liked the '09 DL. It was strange, I thought Zombie Dust was the only thing FFF could do right for quite a while.

Not joking! Biggs' could've just been a messed up palate, it was late and other people thought it was way more acetic than I did so I might've just been off. DL '09 was early and I actually liked, though.

I already did that once! Set up the tasting and I'll be there! (Provided it's not ONLY white birch.)

Yea, the problem is that you cali people shot yourselves in the foot so to speak with this one. The hype train got stopped in its tracks when everyone started saying the 1st one was way better and then add to that that the base is a regular RR beer. So what people are willing to give up to try it is much much less.

This is sarcastic, right? I'd love to get some Beat, but the hype train (or maybe goodness train, I wouldn't know) has thus far not enabled me to do that...

I think people are doing what I am since this whole shit fest is getting worse and worse and it seems like greedy assholes plague the trade forums. My trading has basically gone down to zilch since August. I have my trading partners that I trade with and if a new beer I want isn't released in their area tough shit, I move on instead of joining the madness. There's still reasonable traders though, even reasonable n00b traders, they're just tough to find. Since August I've found a few and I finally found someone with not one but two of my personal white whales that is actually reasonable. Took like 5 posts and rejecting a few greedy people to get there though.

You know how to read right? My conversation with stupac has nothing to do with beatification...its about ffac.

That seems to be the way a lot of people do it. Interject in a conversation they didn't read since the beginning so they don't even know what its about.

You sound crotchety. I have read since the beginning and made an honest mistake. Don't get too pedantic, it's the Internet.

I'm not crotchety, just stating an observation, what you did happens a lot...its not just you.

Yeah I remember when ISOs were reasonable and people didn't ransom beers. And of course I remember when people who did ransom beers didn't get pissed for other people ransoming beers. The hipocracy of many users here is laughable.

Winner of the thread right here...very well said.

FYI Al I have nothing but respect for you and definitely don't lump you all into the same category. It's sad that the new traders overshadow some traders like you. Hell I don't claim to be the best trader here but I have given away many beers that I will never see again (like Saint Arnold DR series beers).

What I think is happening with this batch of Beat is the same thing that happened when Bourbon Barrel Old Stock came out in 2009. A beer that was once considered a wale because of bottle count was bottled in large quantities and people were still trying to trade it like it was a wale even though it clearly wasn't.

Beatification Batch 5 should be trading like Dark Lord and it's trading like an Allagash Coolship.

I won't get into the absolutley ridiculous notion that Midwest BAs were stockpiling cases of King Henry, CBS, and BCS variants. But us non-West Coasters need to just face the fact that it's tough to trade for a beer with thousands of bottles available with a 6 bottle limit from the West Coast (Beat, BT 11, etc.). It sucks but you have to pay to play.

Thank you. Perhaps these guys don't trade often enough or in large enough volume. Having been a trader for two years I've learned that if you hook people up, other and random people will be very generous to you. Alewatcher literally gifted me a King Henry. Rempo gifted me a beer from my wants list when he heard my grandpa passed away. Lukafer gifted me two BBPt5 for simply hooking him up with Bourbon County. The newer guys dont understand yet that their demands and crazy offers aren't doing them favors in the future. Beer Karma is real. Hook people up.
