Do you ever buy the $25 bottle at your favorite craft beer bar?

In this area, it tends to be whatever the packaging price is, the single price is at bars and restaurants. Bombers are usually double the retail price.

    Ex: $6 6-pack, $6 single bottle @ the bar/restaurant. $12 bomber, $24 bomber @ the bar/restaurant...

So it's either hope your favorite beer goes on draft, or prepare to pay through the nose.

Tempted - yes. Buy - no, especially if the little woman and I want to eat. Maybe on vacation, but it would have to be something we both like and that is a tough intersection to find sometimes. We usually stick with draft even though the draft scene isn't all that exciting in my neck of the woods... You know, big night out and those Wendy's dispensers only have Coke products

This thread has inspired me to pull the trigger on bottles more often. Not bad prices around here, either. Got Sucaba the other night for only $20

Nope. Was out with the parents and the lady up in Flagstaff, saw Abyss '12 on the menu for $25 but just couldn't pull the trigger...especially when I know I've got 3 bottles at home and I paid ~$14 for 'em. Got me an XS Old Crusty draft instead for $7.

Is $45 for a Cantillon Fou' Foune bad? It is a 750ml. Also, how about a Cantillon 100% Kriek (in a smaller bottle) for $20?

I spent $75 on a Homage recently. No regrets.

I paid $20 for a bottle of KBS at a bar last year. It was my first one and I had a $40 Groupon that cost me $20, so I felt like I actually got it for free.

Depends, when it's a one-off and I can't find it anywhere else (options are limited in PA) like Firestone Walker XVI, definitely. Most year rounds and seasonals can be found elsewhere cheaper

I bought a bottle of 07 BCBS at bar a few weeks ago, it was $20. More recently than that I bought a bottle of Angle's Share Bourbon for $25.

No. Gone are the days when I feel spending $25 or more on a single bottle of beer is worth it. Then again I live in Vegas where thousands of people every day shove $20 bills down strippers thongs to get their jollies for a couple of minutes, so maybe $25 on a large format bottle of good beer isn't all that bad.

It's reasonable to pay more at a bar, than retail. I have about 25 bombers at my bar that sell from $12-$30 and I sell quite a lot, they are perfect for sharing. People pay crazy mark ups for a bottle of wine so a slight mark up on beer should be fine. As a business owner you have to think about storage, serving it, glassware, taxes, cost of liquor license, etc. Much more involved than marking it up 30% and sticking it on a shelf.
