Is there a reason Citra Ninja was gone waaaaay quicker than N vs. U or any of the others? Less production? More demand? NvU was pretty damn good is CN that much better?

    I want answers!

Also some dude that my gf knows, that's an admin/mod/whatever on this site offered his FwB thing to us but i'm too lazy to take advantage of it since I live in the burbs. If you read this, we need to meet and get a beer sometime.

wish our beer buyer(Northbrook) was as cool as the Schaumberg one is. ours is great but he doesn't get much outside of the NorthShore's comfort zone, mainly these people buy New Belgium, the occasional Double Jack or Plead the 5th. Definitely no Pipeworks. Did manage to snag a KBS from him today though so I guess I can't complain.

    April 4, 2013 Update

    Hi Friends,

    just real quick notes today,

Glaucus Belgian IPA is now available at both Binny's Lincoln Park & West Lakeview Liquors. This time we made it with Amarillo hops! That is how we wrote the recipe in 2009 and up until now we didn't have any for Glaucus! So the beer finally tastes like the original and it's very bright and juicy!

    Next week releases:

    Coffee Break Abduction
Glaucus (hits more distribution, only did a few stores this week)
    Reliquary Belgian Double Pale
    Ninja vs Unicorn

    In Tanks:

Cascade Ninja with all hops from Hop Head Farms in Michigan http://www.hopheadfarms.com/
    Simcoe Ninja
    Raspberry Truffle Abduction
    Hyper Dog
    18th Street #7 Black IPA
    Murderous English-style Barleywine
    Majestic English-style Summer Ale
    A Foolish Wit
    Close Encounter
maybe start work on some new Saisons too =p

I personally like N v U much, much better. I also think the Citra hops being used these days by everyone are less citrus-y then they were a year ago. Maybe the farm(s) clones are losing profile or something with the massive amount they're cloning for the demand.

Wow...It had to come to this. Now, X beer isn't hoppy enough becomes X hop isn't hoppy enough. Enough! All this chasing the dragon in this community has led to such disappointment. I'm just happy I'm not an "expert" or "super taster," but just a guy who realizes my palate changes often and many of the same beers taste somewhat different to me over time. That's why, IMO, revisiting beers is so important and not just one and done for the tick. To all, there is such a plethora of great beer out there, sit, relax, ENJOY one.

Careful everyone. We have been good thus far keeping this thread alive for nearly a year. I would hate to see this go the way of nearly every FFF or post-beer-festival-that-didn't-go-well-for-a-few-people-thread.

I am very curious, what's the policy? You are of legal age to purchase the boozes.

I was responding to someone who asked which one was better, and I expressed my opinion.

Also I didn't say anything about hoppiness, I said the citrus-y flavor is different and not pronounced, the hop/flavor bitterness is still there. Citrus flavor has nothing to do with hoppiness.

Beers change & pallets change, but the last few zombie dusts and other citra hopped beers haven't had the intense citrus profile that was present when the crop was in short supply a year or two ago. Considering all citra hops come from the same strain (and possibly even one farm) its a logical possibility that the flavor profile is changing on them due to massive cloning. I've grown hops for 5 years and every year the flavor gets a little better or different; if the strain is young then the flavor might not quite be there.

I have no idea what your "chasing the dragon has led to disappointment thing" is about (south park reference?) as I merely expressed an opinion that I liked A better then B. The gentleman asked "NvU was pretty damn good is CN that much better?"

But I will certainly take your advice to sit, relax, and enjoy one; I just hope you do the same. And please don't take this negative or continue a negative streak on here as mentioned above, keep it alive and keep it positive.

Speaking from brewing with citra I have noticed batch variances with it.

Is your licence one that says "Under 21 until..." or is it expired?

No. Expires in 2016. It is vertical as opposed to horizontal.

I rarely am happy to be an old man, but that's kind of a hassle. I stopped getting carded when I was 19 though, due to my advanced handsomeness.

In most stores it isn't a hassle but that one WF was being a bitch. I like the stores where they run my id through the machine and I can tell them see, told you so. Also found this has only been a problem in Illinois, haven't had any problems in other states.
