Such a fitting subject after yesterday :-)

Believe it or not, there were actually two '09 BCBS bombers in the lineup yesterday!

Lol, I told my wife this morning that I might make a diorama of yesterday's release.

I think you could just steal your daughter's and put your name on it. "The Battle of 500 Rainbows".

I really hate to say it, but the solution is to raise prices. Would sour fest sell out instantly if it was $100? Would everyone have bought WWBV if it was $30 a bottle? Does it suck if you can't afford bottles at that expensive of a price? Of course it does, but I would like to do a lot of things I can't afford. Would 50/50 Eclipse be sitting on the shelf if it was $15 a bottle? Probably not but it is nice to know I don't have to follow the delivery truck to get a bottle. Higher prices only require people to make a decision as to what they really like and want.

BTW, if anyone has an extra Sourfest ticket (or two) they want to trade for a couple bottles of Violet and Volunt, let me know.

I don't necessarily disagree with you on the events, especially where supply is just plain limited, but the solution for Crooked Stave is a bit different, because they can expand production. And that's what's going to happen this summer, which brings with it a whole different set of reasons people will be perpetually dissatisfied.

This is definitely one solution. Anyone with a basic understanding of economics knows that many of these limited type release bottles are priced below their true market price. IMO, violet could have been priced anywhere between $20-$25 and they probably would have still sold all of it yesterday, but I know I would have bought fewer bottles.

We could derail this thread pretty quickly though by entering into the discussion of pricing structure in the craft beer industry.

As a follow up to my initial dissapointment, within a few hours of me striking out on the beer myself, I had someone drop me off a few bottles, and 3 more offer bottles to me. This community is awesome.

Why is a 750 of slap yer mammy $18? That's like $52 a sixer for a double IPA!

I was pretty excited for this thread to be created. Love seeing each advocates opinion! Anyone that is extremely upset obviously wasn't drinking beer... just sayin.

I was really into sharing more than I was trying to get drunk. Honestly, I brought a glass from a beer fest that only filled like 3-4 ounces, so was never really drinking huge pours to begin with. I wasn't actually wasted till I got home and kept drinking  Otherwise, small pours, lots of conversation, staying hydrated, making sure I ate, and taking small breaks worked fine! As someone said above, I witnesses not one 'wasted' person (just a bunch of happy people!)! No different then tailgating before a football game, everyone has fun in different ways but doesn't mean it's right or wrong just personal decisions that hopefully most are mature enough to make!
My upcoming June plans if anyone else is going: Burning Can Fest June 1st, Great Divide Anniversary Party June 15th and Epic Beerfest June 29th (pouring the night before)! I'm ready for summer! Cheers.

I don't think raising the prices would change anything, whether it was at the release or on shelves. 50/50 is OVERPRICED, there is a difference. It's nice when average people like me can afford good beer!

I'll have to disagree with ya on this un har.
GABF keeps raising prices, and it sells out. RareBeer does, and does.

The main problems with yesterday were: crowded, slow line, and some didn't get to buy bottles.
Solutions could be: bigger space, brew more beer, and don't worry about getting bottles. Chances are that at the next bottle share, you'll be able to drink that particular beer. A big part of craft beer is the community. It was an awesome community yesterday. Next time, we can just hang out in "line" and sample some awesome stuff! They could raise the price of CS beers, and I'd still go just to hang out with you peeps...and your beers :sunglasses:

Funny you say this as a friend was talking about this exact same thing. He said Crooked Stave should just have a "release" every other month, even if they don't release anything, so that we can all go and have an epic bottle share in the parking lot.
