no ONE likes paying ALL the TIME. You MAY have some firends who JUST love TO MOOCH off others. While I don't expect IT, normally generosity gets reciprocated AT some POINT. It's sounds like ITS time to get new friends BECAUSE the ones you have ARE broken.

I usually grab a 12 of the freshest SN they have at the store. It's cheap enough and it's still delicious.

wow you did not get it did you? no I solved that problem LONG AGO.

MY friends and they are true real friends who will do anything for me, know we are not doing that great money wise. If you DID NOT get the point that offering free beer all the time, will cause problems then I am sorry. I was NOT complaining about ANY current line up of GUESTS!

GIVE AWAY ALL THE FREE YOU WANT TO, its your money..... how you like the caps.lol

sarcasm some just do not get it.:grinning:

I've learned not to try and change my friends' tastes in beers. I offer what I like to drink, but I also buy what they like as well, usually Bud Lights and Heinekens.

I usually stick with some New Glarus sixers for people that don't like beer as much I do. They're unoffensive, and I don't mind drinking them.

Good choice. I've found that my mostly macro drinking family/friends also like Reds.

I'll usually have a mild craft beer on hand such as a non-Belgian blonde. I always have good domestic pilsners on hand (Victory, Summit, Bent Paddle, Schell's) as I have a good friend who swears by Pilsner Urquell. I also buy a sixer of Miller Lite about once per year for the "ladies".

I have had the horror of coming back from work and seeing a bunch of empty Schneider Mein Nelson Sauvin bottles in our recycling bin and a bunch of my wifes friends singing drunken karaoke.

I now keep some Pilsner, usually Troegs Sunshine or sly Fox Pikeland in the fridge to ensure that my cellar won't be raided by a gaggle of Wegmans workers looking to get their buzz on.

I think it's not bad practice to keep a six pack each of pale ale and brown ale/porter/stout on hand for guests if you have the space. Same reason I try to generally have a bottle of white and red on hand as well, even though seems like half the time it's family and they just ask for ice water or it's my friends and they bring their own.

If you are worried that won't like it, serve a good and tasty lager like brooklyn lager, sly fox helles lager, or jacks abby jabby brau. A nice pils is good for people who don't usually drink craft like prima pils, sly fox pikeland pils or even great lakes the wright pils.

If you are worried that they will drink it all then go with what you know you can afford in the quantity that you are predicting.

My one sister-in-law is into craft, but the other one only drinks Miller Lite...my brother says she'll drink Great Dane's Landmark Lite, so I'm going to go that route for her and my brother.

To expand on your question, I would currently buy something that I'd like that I think would be mainstream enough for them...probably Third Shift Amber Lager and something more mainstream...around here, that could be Hamm's or Rhinelander.

I share what I've got on hand - usually 2-3 home brews and some commercial stuff. What I tend to brew is pretty straightforward and inoffensive, so that's a good middle ground. I don't have many friends that are dedicated BMC drinkers anyway. Otherwise, if it's going to be an especially large crowd, 1-2 12s of SNPA does the trick.

Some of it stays out of site (BCBS, Olde School, etc), but even that I'll break into now and then if it's just one or two other people.

Give freely. People's enjoyment adds to your own.
