    Per their FaceBook:

"Roberta and I would like to introduce Ian Browne as our new brewer at Blue Lobster Brewing Company. Ian come to us from Maine, and a recent graduate from the Master Brewers Program at UC-Davis. He has a wealth of knowledge in Brewing and Business, and is a welcome addition to the Blue Lobster Team"

    No word on Dave yet?

Long time lurker, first time poster. I felt the need to register to post here because Blue Lobster is already taking a beating on Facebook for this move.

I know first hand that BL has had some amazing opportunities that they've had to pass on because their former head brewer can't get his act together. He's a talented brewer indeed, but if you can't successfully operate a commercial brewery, than maybe you should stick to home brewing beer (albeit great beer).

Dave's posting on Facebook, but keeping his cards (wisely) close to his chest as to his next move. I wish him all the best wherever he ends up!

This is a sad, sad day. Blue Lobster is/was my favorite new brewery.

I'm just hoping they don't pull out of the VT Brewers Festival with a week to go.... again..

They just got rid of the reason they had to last year....

It's pretty obvious and really sad what you're doing here, Owner of Blue Lobster. You guys couldn't manage your way out of a paper bag, and Dave is 99% +1 of all your success.

Can't wait to see what Dave cooks up. Maybe you guys can go back to having lingerie nights again.

Does anyone know anything about the new brewer? Is he on BA?

Dave is a talented brewer--one of the best I've seen in years. Too bad, but he'll make some other brewery quite successful.

Will this effect Lobster-fest? How about the quality of the cheddar biscuits? I love those

AFIAK, Ian never worked at Bull Jagger - he's a fresh UC Davis grad and if I'm not mistaken this is his first industry job.

Class move, creating a BA account to trash your former employee. I could picture owners of all the successful craft breweries doing the same thing. Oh wait, no I couldn't. You'll be out of business in 3 years.

I have confused the Ians. Apparently they hired two. One whom David was training as an assistant previously worked at Bull Jagger. The other one (new head brewer Ian Browne) is indeed a recent UC Davis Grad. My bad. Still, they needed two Ians to replace one Sakolsky...

Hm. Interesting. Are you sure it wasn't because you didn't want to run out of beer even though you had 12bbl of beer in cold storage?

Especially when David hasn't said a single negative word about this whole thing. Not very classy.

If so, he is also the guy who commented on my FB post awhile back that Blue Lobster and Hill Farmstead shouldn't be mentioned in the same sentence - even though there's a shared legacy there. Not a good omen...or good PR for that matter.

It would be nice to know what happened
He's quietly being negative about it. Liking posts on Facebook that's anti-BL and even in the thread http://beeradvocate.com/community/t...rewing-experiences.100185/page-4#post-2063779 recommending that people keep being critical. I don't know what happened but its kind of sad how this is all playing out as publicly as it has been.

At least his name is on those likes. Creating a BA account just to libel a former employee is low.
