This is a Black Friday mentality. I was told I would get something, so I should no matter what and if I can beat people to get some without people knowing, do it? People wait weeks for rebates from Menards, you can't wait to get your ticket money back? If you don't get a bottle, will you or others lose their life? Is it worth someone else's? We don't live a third world country, so why are people acting like it all of the sudden?

Not to mention the brewery gave away free beer all day Sunday.

Hell no, I never said violence was the answer to anything, nor did anyone on this thread. No one on here is condoning anything you mention, but you saying boo hoo to someone who didn't get beer when they rightfully should have is also uncalled for. He was entitled to it when he purchased the ticket, and it's not unexpected to be frustrated when you get short changed. If you wanna make the claim there are bigger problems in the world, no $hit, but realize you're on a beer forum. I'm done posting on this.

I'm sure TG will be just fine with their events, and I look forward to attending them.

Can someone just start a Huna day thread and get all this out of the TG thread??

What the hell are you smoking? Where did anyone mention they would kill someone if they don't get their beer? Way to take it way too over the top to make a point.

"lose their life" no equals kill people. And in this day and age it happens fast. I'm gonna say it happens faster in Florida. But to say people haven't lost their life in similar situations (black friday) is ignorance.

Erdinger2003, I know I shouldn't bite on this, but I can't help myself. Yes, people have died on black friday due frenzied customers and unchecked aggression, man. However, the black friday death count stands at seven since 2006 (none of which were in Florida). Seven is way too many, but far fewer than the 23 people killed by lightning strike last year. In fact, the same number of people, seven, died playing ping pong over a similar time period. It is fine to use hyperbole; you just shouldn't double down on it.

Anyway, how is the Assassin coming?

I honestly don't understand how anyone could defend a business that took money from people in exchange for the guarantee of purchasing 3 bottles of beer, and then couldn't follow through with that promise. If anything people should be clamoring for that business to be shut down or sued into the ground, if they were in any other field or sector Cigar City would be done. I'm not looking forward to the Assassin/MD release this year because every time the GF and I have gone to the taproom we have been greeted with nothing but smiles, fresh delicious beers and gracious hosts/patrons, and unfortunately I don't foresee any of that happening. I can give the same guarantee that Cigar City did without taking your money that this year's Assassin day will be fucked if TG doesn't opt for a ticketed release tied to your ID. Decorah doesn't deserve what Tampa had to go through this year.

The business was ripped off, have any of you never been ripped off? They are paying for it anyway.

I really don't think the type of people that fist fought in Florida are going to make their way to little ole' NE Iowa.

You want one of the best breweries in the US destroyed because they fucked up?

Applying that logic we should shut down Target, The Lost Abbey, Microsoft, the U.S. government, Bill Clinton, Three Floyds, Russia, my sister, every big bank in the country, & countless other things. Yeaaaah. Were you even there?

Anyways, after a gorgeous weekend in a state park, a day of biking Decorah, & sips of Morning Delight & Kentucky Brunch, I couldn't have been any happier with the KBBS release, & I'm looking forward to the Assassin release. I hope they've learned from other breweries' mistakes.

With TG making massive waves last year and with the proliferation of craft beer geekdom especially in a particularly notorious nexus located 4-5 hours east of Decorah.. how sure are you guys really that any TG stout bottle release is going to be any better/same than it has been in the past?

I cannot "like" your statement, but I know what you are saying. They tried to do it right, but people bitched. They bowed to the masses and it screwed them. For everyone who bitches about FFF and the release of DLD tix, it worked for them last year.

If Darkness day starts to change, then you may be correct.

As someone involved in special event promotion for over twenty years, the burden falls on CCB. They allowed their system to be taken advantage of.

Planning events requires you to have plans of action for worst case scenarios. It's rather obvious they didn't take into account counterfeit tickets, and a number of other factors.

Until the Hell's Angels cant handle their LSD, and booze, and someone is stabbed at event, I would hold off on calling any beer event Altamont.

    I love the reference regardless.

The Altamont comparison was meant to be tongue in cheek. I'm just saying that the douchebag/opportunist/mini venture capitalist element at release parties has grown at an alarming rate. I like to go to release parties to spend time with friends, chat with fellow beer geeks, to enjoy the beer, and to bring beer home to enjoy later. Too many people go for the purpose of trophy collecting, or to acquire flippable commodities, and I worry about that approach ruining it for others, or even precipitating the end of events like this, which would really suck.

Based on the twitter barrel photos, there should be plenty of Assassin. They could even put it in 12 oz bottles like the Vanilla Bean, KBBS, and MD. I'd like to see how many Illinois plates are in Decorah with the promise of a single 12 oz bottle.
