It would be very nice if the Taphouse updated the beers on their website

    Oh yes indeedy.

How am I supposed to know whether it's worth going if I can't even tell what's on tap? I do not have surveillance equipment stationed there. Woulda loved me some Old Raspy and more GABS beers if I'd known they were available.

    Just an idea guys

The most ludicrous thing is by doing this the Taphouse is denying themselves patronage from those with the deepest pockets.

Sure, there's probably less beer geeks than bocce-ball enthusiasts in Sydney, but the bocce-ballers don't spend anywhere near as much cash as we do..

Yep, no shortage of movie screening lists and what's happening with Bocce ball. When it comes to beer, who knows, it's like the only response is come in and check it out.

Hopeless group. When was at hashigo zake they had the pies available that day, the upcoming taps and even the current song playing. The hashigo zake website is current. Not that hard for Kiwi's apparently. Then again it is the small touches that make a world class venue and a Mickey mouse operation.

You are a craft beer drinker and they do salute you for that. Take heart for that knowledge. City of men was apparently more important for the fucking silent movie than a tap list

It the same for the St Kilda taphouse, it was out of date. I asked them about this and it is now up to date - hopefully they do continue to keep this up.

I agree with sentiments above I was looking forward to trying some favourite GABS beers again, and when I dropped in recently worked out the list was totally out of date. If the format of the website is too difficult to update, then they should move to Facebook or Twitter updates to the taplist.

Hate to say it but we are not the market. It is the hipsters they want sculling Little Creatures, or the Union, NRL or, cricket people.
Do not want to support a venue that wishes to promote the movies or bocce ball courts over the beer.

After the totally BS email I got from the taphouse I will never set foot in that place again. They do not have beer fans at heart. I will support 4 Pines, Hearts, murray's, or any other venue. I just wish the local would close down and we could get something halfway caring in Sydney as I would be more than willing to spend money at something like a Hashigo Zake with that sort of service.

Maybe Steve is having another daquari as he reads this.

Once again assuming my award winning role as Devil's Advocate ('4 stars' Variety Magazine, 'superb' Harpers, 'a shining light' The New Yorker) I will sally forth....

When you out-source things, sometimes the turn around from what you send your web guys to put on your webpage to what you actually have can be slightly amiss. I dont know the ins and outs of TLTH and their website protocols and setup, but our website 'lies' all the time.

I try and do my best to keep our Facebook page somewhat current, but there are oversites.

I imagine for Hashigo, they do all their stuff internally. It's much easier to have that element of control. It is sadly the price you pay for outsourcing. I'm sure they don't do it on purpose to annoy you.

Anyway, I have to go now and sip daquaris and ignore my customers.

I can only imagine the contents of the email. I expect he only wanted you to come so as to park the 1929 Isotta-Fraschini Tipo 8A Castagna Transformable out the front. Heavy car in city traffic, that.

    Almost forgot....

In a shameless attempt to push my venue and lose all of your respect....

If you Sydney guys are unhappy with them, you can show your displeasure by voting for us/me (the Sail and Anchor, Fremantle) in the Beer and Brewer awards. We're going for Best Large Bar (over 150pax). Some of you have seen editions of our tap list. It really is quite good all of the time.

I've even helpfully left this link for you.

If you want my vote for the Sail and Anchor, I would suggest that the beer prices should be back up on the chalkboard. Nothing worse than not knowing what the prices are, especially when the place is busy and its a hassle to ask the bar staff (maybe this is the idea). A real beer bar should be transparent in pricing and measures IMO. Especially when an unfamiliar punter is not aware of the vast price difference between a Dry Dock, and a Unifikator for example.

Other than that - great venue. When's the next homebrew comp - I plan to enter and win

Why anyone would want to drink anything other then Dry Dock is beyond me.

    Best beer.

Thanks for the feedback Mr Foles. When i get to a computer (and not my sh__ty phone) i will PM you with our reasoning. Re the homebrew comp we're thinking of tying in with a birthday celebration thing for the pub. It will prob be an esb or dipa.

In two years time can you do a Gueuze homebrew comp, so I can win by default?

Only blends of 3, 2 and 1 year old lambic.

We've already spoken about putting your Gueuze on tap. The quicker you mix your vinegar and Dry Dock, the quicker it goes on.

Mordecia kicks open the door of the saloon. All the conversation stops. Mr Hawthorne playing the piano plays a stray note, hightening the tension. Mr Mulder, behind the bar polishing a wine glass, starts to slowly drop down beneath the bar. He knows this could be trouble. Mr Danieelol, picking hops out of his teeth, afixes the stranger with a steely glare. 'What do you want stranger' he drawls at Mordecia. Mr Kennedy, Mr Spicelab and Lukie jump up from their chairs. 'Hey guys we don't want no trouble here.' they same almost in unison. Mordecia returns Danieelol's glare. 'I just updated my tap list on facebook.' With that he dashingly tosses his scarf over his shoulder and walks out of the saloon.

Soon the saloon is a babble of voices, everyone talking to each other. All asking the same question..... Who was that handsome man that seems to listen to his customers....
