Hope you at least bought some Apocalypse cow while out there. That sucks about barely missing it.

Washington DC has the Beer Baron law. If you can get it into your shop, restaurant, or bar, and you pay a minute tax on it, you can sell it. That simple. I once walked into a store in DC and got Deschutes, Cigar City, Russian River, and Alesmith. I passed on Alpine. It is extremely great in that regard. But, prices. One store routinely gets Russian River sours. However, they were (are, Supplication is there) $35. Yeahhhhh.

Overall, still a damn nice law, IMO.

Stopped by 3F for lunch and to grab some ZD yesterday and talked with a fellow beer geek . He told me about the priest release so I grabbed a bottle but hated the $35 price tag. My fellow beer geek said he had to taste so we opened In the parking lot and another beer geek joined us also. For the record , I love their rye da lightning but This was Not good ..... I hate to say it was bad but maybe it is just Not my style. I then sold my bottle to my fellow beer geek. He said he too did Not like it but had a friend in DC who wanted to try it so win win . This is just one man's opinion. FYI we put the beer on ice for 45 minutes b4 we drank it. Cheers!

I still don't know how that 90 bottle thing caught on/became fact so quickly.

i called today and heard that it was indeed completely sold out for good. who knows whether any more will hit the takeout counter or not? I'm a bit bummed, however, fwiw, missing out on a 3 floyd's sour is probably not the end of the world, until cantillon either comes to munster to make one, or else ships 3 floyd's some exclusively produced beer. until then, 3 floyds is brilliant with hops and also makes a mean stout!

Industry perks, someone brought it to a tasting.

It should also be noted that I submitted it as a Belgian Strong Pale Ale. I don't know why it's an AWA now.

A friend stopped in this evening and they said they were indeed sold out, BUT it may get bottled again at a later date.

I've been questioning the style since the release. Is it an AWA? All FFF tweeted out was it was their first beer with Brett. That doesn't neccesarily make it a sour. Reading aasher's review I don't get the impression that it's a sour...

Perhaps said "beer geek" just agreed with your dislike of said "beer" just to loosen your grips.

Also, who has a stash of ice in a parking lot to chill a bottle of beer? The beer was nice and cold when it was sold.

talked to someone today w/a theory that it might show up at the microbrewers festival...not a rumor, just a theory...it would not surprise me if they had that or Busy Boyz in addition to the usual Dark Lord etc....

Bought the bottle and sat in bar drinking for 2 hours then we finally decided to drink it. Beer geek said we have to throw it on ice so we went to his truck where he had a old coleman cooler iced up and had a 6pk of zombie and gumball already in there. Thanks again for sharing the bottle and for the old school 3Floyds stickers Charlie D. !!

    It's definitely NOT a sour.

Drinking it blind, without knowing what it was exactly, I would describe it as a hoppy, grassy Belgian Strong Pale with light white wine barrel aging characteristics but would never mention anything about it being a wild.

Do you guys ever wonder why FFF has to swing by the forums here.. yet never has to go to any of the other online beer communities (RB, BS, CBS, BM, etc) forums/listservs to clarify things?

Brettanomyces does not make a beer sour. Brettamomyces gives beer a barnyard/horsey/hay flavor (think Saison DuPont/Orval). Lactobacilis and Pediocaucus gives beer sour characteristics.
