    1. Asking a question and getting silence with a blank face
    2. Beer stored poorly (heat & light)
    3. When no price is listed and I have to ask how much they are selling it for
    4. Wait, you sell beer yet you know nothing about it...perfect
    5. No system of organization (Style or Geographic location)
    6. Taprooms that sell bottles, but they are all behind the bar (I like to get to second base with my beer before we make sweet sweet love).

Oh, here's another story: There is a large liquor store in CO that's not in the best area, but surprisingly had a pretty decent selection at one point. Well, I was riding my mountain bike home one night from a friend's house, and crashed my bike right in front of the store, splitting my hand open. I walked into the store, hoping to quickly clean my hand off, and the guy refused to let me use the bathroom, saying it was for customers only. I reguraly shopped there, and I clearly needed some paper towels. It wasn't bleeding all over the store or anything, and he was really rude about it. Never went there again, and told everyone I knew that shopped about it too. Too bad they hired morons.

Why should a liquor store be responsible for your clumsiness?

True, good thought. I think I was too enraged by the stupid store to think clearly. I had to ride home another 5 or so miles bleeding all over myself. I should have bled all over the guy's counter.

Human decency perhaps? I wasn't asking for much and not saying they were responsible, just needed a little help. And my "clumsiness was actually avoiding a car that didn't see me in the dark despite myself having all of the colors and lights I could possibly have.

I live in craft beer wasteland of Northeast Arkansas , when I go to the Missouri line on the weekends for my parental handoff I stop at the store there , it has a decent selection of beer. The part that annoys me is the two guys who work there who will not leave you alone while you look , I mean Im no pro by any means , but I can stand and look at different beers for 30 minutes before making up my mind , but these two guys try and give you the run down on every beer you look at , and most of the time they do not know what they are talking about , I mean they have a little knowledge but ,maybe less than I have , just let me look at the beers bro , if I got any questions I will ask you , ha , my rant for the day , and online at that

The reason that almost all retail location have employee only bathrooms is because there are EXTREMELY INCONSIDERATE people like you who think that pissing on someone's business is fine (same kind of people would make a mess in a bathroom and not care).

Unfortunately you are serious about this- I could see you (or anyone) doing it drunk, but looking back sober and thinking you were in the right is insane and very self righteous.

Because accidents happen and when they do, helping and empathy is the best way to respond. After all, you may be the one looking for similar help in the future.

And tomorrow in kindergarten we're going to learn how to blow our nose properly.

I hate it when liquor stores don't have ten cases of BT or BA Dark Lord, or All the Cantillon line, or Westy 12, or BA Speedway, or Crooked Stave anytime I want them.

But you don't see how a business would be concerned with the potential liability of some dude who just fell off his bike walking around their store bleeding and perhaps even suffering from a concussion, etc? You know....a store with thousands of glass bottles on the shelf just waiting to be knocked over by some guy with birds and stars spinning around his head?

I have certainly experienced this thing called "empathy" a few times in my life, but I'm inclined to side with the store on this one. I don't just walk into businesses with a boo-boo and expect them to nurse my wounds (unless it's an emergency clinic....maybe).

Orlando is just a dead spot for solid brews. Ive lived here for just over a year now, and theres only about 4 stores in the entire city/outlying area that i will go to in search of brews. And its sad that as close as we are to Cigar City, that there is not more of a presence of their beers.

First of all, you didn't say that initially. You just claimed that the store shouldn't have to be responsible for his clumsiness, not that there were legal implications the store needed to consider. Nevertheless, to the legal implications point, he wasn't bleeding all over the place and said as much in his comment. Furthermore, if you're concerned about him passing out from a concussion and falling into a display of bottles then have an employee escort him to the bathroom. There's ways to protect yourself legally and still help a guy in need.

    Wow.

First of all, calm down. It's not like I pissed all over the handle on the back door to the store. It's a brick wall, it doesn't have feelings. Furthermore, I had to go, nothing was going to stop it and I wasn't going to piss in the middle of the parking lot. Second, you certainly make a lot of assumptions towards people you have never met. Extremely inconsiderate are not words anyone who knew me would call me. But hey man, two each is own, if you want to pass judgement on someone you have never met knock yourself out.

Very true. I also work at a liquor store, and while some of the complaints here are justified, some are a bit outrageous.

An informed staff is just an indicator of how well the store will do in the long run for beer. If the staff there is moronic and ignorant, you should not go. That will be the cancer of all the other problems you find (lack of selection, out of code bottles, higher prices, etc. )

I try to be the best clerk I can be while on the job. Though, working at a large liquor store with wine/champagne/liquor/liqueurs/beer, it is hard to get a grasp of where every product one might ask for is. If you ask if we carry something, beer i will know, no problem. Wine, that gets tough.

It is also a fine line between bothering customers, and helping them. A lot of people will think we're being annoying and in the way, asking if you need help with anything. But really, if we didn't ask, even more people would be upset that we're not helping them. I try to gauge the customers and ask those who look confused or have a list of things to get. again, this goes back to the knowledge and skill of the employees at the store.

Also, for what we get paid, we honestly shouldn't know much about beer. Ive accumulated a lot of knowledge over my 8 months working at a liquor store. I get paid 8 bucks an hour. So, even though i do know the difference between say a Ithica Flower Power and Sierra Nevada Torpedo, I dont get paid enough to. :stuck_out_tongue:

I'm sure the owner of the business would not agree that this is fine simply because his wall does not have feelings...

How would you feel if someone pissed on your car? Or into your beer? Your beer doesn't have feelings?? Does it??

My pet peeve would be I drive out to a liquor store 45 minutes away and am talking to one of the 2 guys who works there in the aisle and ask if they have anymore of a certain beer because the shelf is empty, and he says they are all out.

Then 3 minutes later while I am still browsing another guy comes in asks the guy at the front of the liquor store for the exact same thing and the guy in the front of the store goes back and grabs the last 4 of them for him.....WTF?

If your not sure if you have any left at least check don't just say were out cause your lazy. Or maybe even ask the other guy working there so you don't have to go look if your that lazy. Needless to say I was pretty upset after driving all that way for nothing.

I could not agree with you more. I hate raffles, holding beers for people on a list, etc. My personal opinion is that they should only be on a first come, first serve basis. I frequent a few different stores based on what they carry, etc and one is first come, the second sometimes has raffles and the third does lists. WTF?? If you are there, you should be able to buy whatever. Now I am ok with putting limits on how much you can purchase so that everyone gets a fair shot but I think these other things are BS. I did run into a store when GI BCBS came out that said I had to buy a 4 pack of another GI with it. I called GI and toldthem and their local rep gave me a case of 312 for my trouble. He agreed that this should not happen. I was traveling about a month ago and called a local bottle shop where I was and asked if they had BCBS Cherry and the guy asked if he knew me!!?? Seriously? He said that his regulars would be pissed if he sold it to someone else. Are you kidding me??!! My money is legal tender just like the next guy's. Sorry this REALLY grinds my gears. I am sure many people have opinions on this and that's just mine. Good day! LOL :grinning:
