    I know there are several of these in town, and usually stop by the one on Plaudit, but the last couple times there it seems their selection hasn't been what it used to be. Is there a better one now? Looking mostly for 4/6-packs of stuff not available in WV (which could be most anything but includes Founders, Three Floyds, etc), but a selection of large format bottles is always nice too.
    Just wondering if the selection has shifted to another of these stores.
    And would also be interested in any other store that has good staple beers like the above.
    Thanks and happy ho-ho.

    Hamburg gets most of the good stuff. Sometimes Harrodsburg Road has some different stuff. Richmond Road probably comes last in my rankings. You should check out Shenanigan's on Broadway, it's got a ton of great stuff.

    Thanks
    I'm not aware of a Hamburg store. Does it go by a different street name in the directory? Or would that be Village Vinyard you speak of? Also Harrodsburg--what's the store?

    Hamburg = Plaudit Place
    Harrodsburg Road = Beaumont Center Parkway

    It's a crap shoot. Each one might have something the other does not have - though they are overall similar. Even Express in Chevy Chase has come up big on odd bottles from time to time. Richmond sometimes has really old bottles, so be careful. Beaumont (Harrodsburg) is about the same as Plaudit. The one way north on Broadway is not worth visiting. Isn't there a new one on Versailles? Never been there. If you hit up Shenanigans, you can get plenty of quality beer and better Shelton/12 Percent (and know that it hasn't sat for two years on the shelf). Plus, you can have a pint and hang out. LB isn't as good as they should be about promoting their growler stations.

    Try a locally owned place like the beer trappe. Chances are the employees actually know something about beer. Pazzos for on premise.

    I appreciate your sentiment, and thanks for the input. And for bradford's vote for Shenanigans. I guess I should explain a bit.
    I make a trip through the area blasting from east TN up through KY and into the hinterlands of WV several times a year, usually around major holidays when I'm heading 'home'. Getting from point A to point B is roughly a 6-8 hour drive depending on traffic and weather, and Lex is at about hour 2. What I'm looking for is a stop that's an easy in-out from I-75 where I can duck in, find locals and Founders and FFF and other oddities that do not exist in WV, 6 or 12 at a time, and get back onto the highway giggling. I've been through Lex several times with time on my hands and it's a great place to be. If I had the time and the ability to really explore and have a couple on site and just stay put I would stop at the Trappe and Shenanigans and more (really dig west 6th, and countryboy is well worth the time). But it's a restocking trip on the lonely Allegheny Trail that I was asking for.
    You guys are great. Thanks for the suggestions.

    Hmmm. If you got off at 75, I can see Hamburg as maybe the most convenient unless you got off at the exit for Richmond Road, hit the Richmond Road shop and/or went down to New Circle, got off at Harrodsburg, and hit the Liquor Barn right there. But if you did that, you could get off New Circle at Tates Creek, go down to Beer Trappe in Chevy Chase, cut through to Shenanigans downtown, then get back on 75 via Newton Pike.
