Yes - I thought I covered that in my footnote :

but that still doesn't change their citizenship:wink:

Now there's an interesting combination of beer authorities.

Horst Dornbusch might be a US citizen. He's lived in the US for a long time.

Yes, I thought so, too. But just trying to show that while Americans might currently dominant in the field of Brewing misinformation and mythology, with the examples of the first two listed, we don't have a monopoly on it.

I thought that could be the case - debated about using "country of origin" or some other phrase but with only 15 minutes to edit...

Biere De Garde, good call, love that style and I am not huge on Belgians.

I'd add a Schwarzbier like fresh Koestritzer to the list. Has a nice roastiness like a dark ale but the body and drinkability of a pils. Good stuff.

It's a worldwide phenomenon. Some of the worst culprits are British.

Tragically, some of the worst culprits are highly respected beer writers whom Joe Public might regard as authorities and actually believe.

By the way, for those who share my affinity for beers on the borderline, try and grab some Grey Sail Ale. They are based in CT, not sure how far they reach. Anyway, this Cream Ale has that crisp, almost metalic bite, to it that makes me love a fine Czech Pils. I am making steak tacos tonight and wanted to give my flank steak a few hours to marinate. I added about a 1/4 of the can to the marinade and 3/4 of the can to my belly. It's great.

I know it's the dead of winter, but this beer has me thinking of days at the beach. Being in cans, this brew is a wonderful one to have with you in such situations.
