Hey folks, a friend of my dad's will be traveling home to the Dublin area and is willing to bring back a couple bottles of beer. Any suggestions for good stuff you can only find in Ireland?

    Thanks!

The Porterhouse's barrel-aged Celebration Stout is very good. You can only buy it at the Porterhouse.

It's an excellent beer. I got a bottle from BOE around a year ago.

It's been mentioned on BA before - a repository of information about craft beer and microbreweries in Ireland. Well worth a read through to identify breweries over there.

Although the Drinkstore link above will probably give a better indication of what's available in Dublin right now....

Spent 14 days traveling Ireland and craft beer was hard to come by. There were a few pubs that had house beer which was usually a pale ale or amber or something easy drinking but good quality. Then there is the Galway Hooker ( http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/16414/39694 ). That beer was easy to find as long as you stay away from the "fist pumping clubs". It's a great beer.

I will echo the Porterhouse selections. I have been there (all over, not long in Dublin) twice and didn't see a store with a whole lot. Smithwicks makes a good Pale ale now. Also, if he sees anything that Metalman makes have him grab that. I don't think they bottle yet but I could be wrong now.
Had this one at a restaurant and thought it was a good choice as well. Don't know the availability, though.

Probably from 8 Degrees or the Franciscan Well if its Cork.

Co-signed on the Porterhouse Celebration Stout although in theory it could be sourced from their New York place. I certainly had it in their London bar.

I've had a couple of Trouble Brewing efforts in the past that were ok.
