I've recently had my first Peanut Butter Stout - Big Grusome (Spring House). I have always been a fan of Chocolate / Vanilla flavored beers like Atwater Vanilla Java, Southern Tier Choclat. However I think the Peanut Butter's may go to the top of my list. Any suggestions of good Peanut Butter or Chocolate beers? Thanks!

Dont let the bartender talk you into it if you want to eat hot wings either.

Crazy, I just poured a Fat Alberta five minutes ago. It's solid so far, big peanut flavor. I hope it sweetens up a bit as it warms.

I think warming the beers is key.

Terrapin has a side project beer called Liquid Bliss. Dry hopped with boiled peanuts and peanut butter added with chocolate.

It's got a slight aroma, and taste, but it's a good porter. Peanut is hard to capture I think.

I really like Sweet Baby Jesus, but personally I feel it is great cold, I tasted more of the peanuts. I would say take to bottles out and let the second warm while drinking the first, kind of like I did with the bombers from 2011.

This one is tasty when it is from a growler or on draft, but if you get a bottle for the love of God please keep it cold and drink quickly.

    Cheers!

Assuming you are from Pennsylvania by your name. If you are ever headed towards Cleveland, Willoughby Brewing Company makes a peanut butter cup coffee porter that is pretty good. Here

I don't think Short's has bottled either Uber Goober or PBJ since 2009 or 2010, unfortunetely. I would imagine any bottles would be pretty bad by now. It is a shame because both those beers are pretty good on tap.

OP, Odd Side Ales has a Peanut Butter Cup Stout which is pretty tasty.

PB&J is actually a blend of two beers. The peanut butter side of it is their beer Uber Goober beer mixed with Soft Parade. Get Uber Goober. Its better and its pure peanut butter stout. They had infection problems with it the first batch but I think they've worked that all out with the 2011 batch. Wolud agree drink cold and dont keep long. Shorts beers are not for cellaring.

For chocolate beers -- there are a billion of them. IMO the daddy of all chocolate beers has to be the Flying Monkeys BNL chocolate stout. If you can find it, the most chocolate beer Ive ever seen. smells like a bowl of chocolate cake batter cold in the glass. boulevard chocolate ale is awesome. For a great off the shelf Sam smith just came out with their organic chocolate stout which I think is excellent.

Ah didn't realize those beers haven't been bottled in that long.

It seems peanuts are one of those ingredients that create infection problems in a number of beers. The best peanut butter beer I've ever had was a homebrew that used the peanut butter powder to great effect.

    Cheers!
