Not that there is anything wrong with that, but I saw a woman in Munich fill a sippy cup and give it to a like four year old. The kid slugged it down and she re-filled it and gave it back to the kid, who drained it again. No that there is anything wrong with that. My did always gave me sips or "slugs" from his glass- probably since I was like 8. Never hurt me (I don't think says a BA). Beer never tasted so good.

See, my experience as a 7 or 8 year-old was much different. I remember asking my dad if I could have a drink of his beer (probably Drewery's or Falstaff at that time). I should have known better when I saw the wry look on his face and he didn't hesitate to say, "Sure, go ahead."

Most vile liquid I had ever tasted! I didn't get my palate for beer for another 10 years -- I had friends who shared similar experiences with me. These weren't the macro beers we know today; though not as good as better beers, Drewery's and Falstaff were pretty innocuous -- but not to an 8 year-old used to milk and Kool-Aid!

Bavarian kids in the 60s and 70s were raised on this http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nährbier so the step was probably a lot less far than in your case

Well, the beers my dad was drinking weren't low-alcohol in any way (usually 5 or 5.5%), I just remember a very sharp, bitter -- almost metallic flavor, accentuated by high carbonation. Today I'd probably be able to guzzle it like water, but to my 8 year-old tongue it was not good.

I'd bet the Nährbier was actually a better experience!

BoB yes, because it was so well-made, but a big history buff overall -- including beer history!

I've been on several WW1 and WW2 battlefield/ beer, cemetery visits in Europe. Life doesn't get more interesting or meaningful than that. Cheers!
