It's like 5 min away. Everything in tampa is close, but nothing in walking distance...

Also rocky point Hyatt is nice to stay at because it is on the bay and is a really nice place to stay. One of the best brunches in tampa is at oyster catchers in the hotel.

We always stay at the Hilton - it's an easy 1/4 mile walk at the most. The Extended Stay is about 1/2 mile, also walkable, much cheaper than the Hilton but not nearly as nice.

My plan is to camp out somewhere that weekend....(not in the parking lot) and attend the event. Any suggestions on campsites either close to CCB or the beach that would be worth staying at?

Only one that comes to mind is Ft. Desoto which is about a 45 minute drive from the brewery

I think they sold other bottles out of the tasting room along with the other merch, but I'm not sure because I came in the next morning to buy bottles out of the cooler and get my growlers filled.

Yup, they did. They had the usual selection at the time of Maduro, Jai Alai and Tocobaga along with Tropical Heatwave, El Murcielago, Auld Alliance and Kalevipoeg in bombers if memory serves. It was a blurry day. :grinning:

Yes, those are what I bought the next morning, along with some Stranahan's aged Imperial Milk Porter. Still have one porter and one El Murcielago left. And three Hunahpu's.

Fort Desoto has a really nice camp ground...but it is about 45 minutes away. St. Pete beach is sleepable...although you don't have much cover, but no one will hassle you. I did not come across many other camp grounds during my travel down there, I was fine sleeping in my car. But good luck! Desoto is freaking gorgeous, btw!

Looks like this year again, Huna day will correspond with Tampa beer week.
Also there was an excellent tasting at the brewery the night before (Friday) after we all returned from Peg's.
I will be bringing a variety of brews including Hoppin Frog, Rasp Tart, Founders assorted and GLBC BA BO.
    Cheers!

Cool. Getting room done in the next few days.
Certainly will be able to get to The Bruery and then San Diego again before the event so will have some stuff to bring to Florida..
Do you seriously drink all night the night before and then get on line for the event? That seems like it would ruin drinking during the day at the event. Or am i just not crazy enough?....

The tasting at CCB on Friday was awesome. Drink what you feel you can handle and still make it the next day in line. I would scope out breakfast and have a plan. We stayed and are staying again at the Hilton, so the travel is minimal. Hydrate on Friday, sunscreen, water, chairs, and cover for Saturday. Have a good attitude and enjoy the day. Probably the biggest issues I have seen over the past two years is bringing sig others who are not into or aware of the beer scene. They are ready to go early and tire of the sun and beer. Part of the fun is meeting BAs or like minded beer people, sharing bottles, talking beer, and enjoying the festive atmosphere--with beer.
Anyone can BM me with questions.
    See you in March!

Thanks dude. Yeah I've got a beerguzzler of a significant other and one beer buddy (maybe two) as my co conspirators so that will be okay for me. I just tend to drink lots of water and eat a lot if I'm gonna drink and i almost never drink two days in a row if one of those days will be a "serious" drinking day. So I'm trepedatious about any night before stuff unless i keep it way low key.

But with that said i'd love to join a bottle share if it can get organized. I'll be in town Thursday preceeding through Wednesday following.

Also wondering about St Somehwere brewing. do they have a tasting room? Is it reasonably close to CCB? I will be renting a car.

Have plane tickets now. Still working on the room and the car.

looking forward to meeting some of y'all...

I have "tricked" the family into a Florida vacation that corresponds with this week. Will be there from Houston, TX. Unfortunately getting there too late for any pre-partying since I am taking a late flight on Friday. Hope to meet some cool people there!

Saint Somewhere is a pretty good haul from CCB about 45 min. It is a very small place, but Bob does a "tour" on thursdays and fridays 6-8 I believe. $10 comes with a glass and 3 pours if I remember correctly.
