I believe it was a one bottle limit at specs downtown.

I'm wondering about Houston Downtown. As long as I get a bottle ill be happy. I love the Pecan Porter and just want to try this.

It's a 1-2 bottle limit depending on where you go and a couple of establishments are hanging on to the 2012 so they can release it with the 2013 as vertical "package" release... so you're probably looking @ $50 for a 12/13 "pack"

They don't hold these things for a year for their health unfortunately :slight_frown:

What a bunch of bullshit. That sounds like something Whip-In would try to pull.

I paid $16.99 each, iirc. Might've been $14.99. Or both (I went to 2 stores)

I'm seeing 21.99 for the 2013 and 29.99 for the 2012 right now (projected mom/pop shops). Specs is gonna be the best bet imo, after that GOUGING!!!!!

I was able to get my hands on 5 last year, all about a week after the release date. I went way up north to specs by 620 and the guy sold me 3. Got another 2 at the twin liquors on Red River. It was great. Not impossible to find, but pretty pricy.

For the record, the last bottles ive gotten were LESS at the whip in than at specs.

Each bottle I've had has had problems, either gushing or thin and infected. Both 2011 and 2012 bottles, and each one cellared properly and refrigerated an adequate amount of time before opening.

    I was refering to bundling.

I think bundling outside of a UPC (like a boxed gift pack) is illegal under state guidelines. I know was in Florida when I lived there.

Not sure of the legalities, nor do I know if they can "force" you to but it, but it will be available at certain places. Maybe it'll be set as an option, as in, would you like to add a 2012 for another $30? I know a few places will bundle bigfoot, sisyphus, or old stock in 4-packs for 4-year verticals and refuse to break them so it does happen more often than people think.

I got it for $13 last year at Whole Foods, because they had the wrong UPC on it. I told them, but the lady said "if that's what it says, that's what we'll sell it to you for." I bought 4.. But I know I won't get that lucky again

I wish stores would force limits on limited beers like this one so more people could enjoy. In 2011 I got the last bottle at that Twin Liquors you referenced (Hancock). The guy in line in front of me had over 6 bottles.

If you just want to try it, you should have no problems finding this on tap or cask at plenty of bars around Houston. Last year Gingerman, Hay Merchant, Anvil all had several casks throughout the year. Flying Saucer, Petrol, Down House, Onion Creek have all had it before. It is a bit hard to find via bottle, but if you just want to enjoy it someplace it is pretty easy to come by.

I wanted to love my bottles from last year as much as everybody else...it's the closest thing Texas gets to a whale, I get it. I've opened 5 and have confirmation that at least 1 of the bottles I traded was a foamy, over carbonated mess. I left bottles in the fridge for days, weeks, to see if this would positively affect the outcome...still ended up in my sink like some kind of elementary school science project. I'm sorry I have to be the one to say it but I just don't believe anyone who says they've opened multiple bottles and "had no issues"...it's not possible. If you've ever had this beer on tap you will know that last year's bottles were not the same beer...in a bad way. Even the brewery has admitted they screwed up...

Azzy and probably the hardest to come by release in Texas, this should be interesting
