All that's needed here now are reprints of the posts when it was announced AB/InBev was taking over Goose Island.

    This is discouraging :slight_frown:

I predict that Westbrook is next, for no reason at all.

I don't think there will be quite the uproar...but I am sure the local scene is up in arms!

Yes, especially since 10 Barrel is in Bend.

Looks like three giddy, suddenly wealthy guys who don't care what anyone thinks. Guess the offer was a good one.

Bend is fiercely anti-corporate and all about ocally sourced, small businesses. I'm sure there will be some people in town who refuse to go there from now on.

I love their space in Bend and tend to go there when in town, but their only beers I seek out anymore are the Crush beers and Oregon Brown.

It's not too surprising, they've got a huge distribution footprint up here in WA now. Apocalypse IPA is pretty much everywhere.

I suppose I will start seeing their beer at target and Wal-Mart now.

Looking over their offerings and ratings, it's going to be no where near a Goose island situation. Still sucks, but really, it's not the end of the world.

Heck, maybe with ABInBev's funding, they can make sours that don't explode in the bottle now!

My guess is that this will push some of the original supporters away from the brand while the majority of macro beer consumers won't care.

Interesting timing and made me think of this article that came out the other day. Read the very last question regarding breweries and "cashing out". Not a direct correlation, but the timing is definitely right and this question will continue to come up. Kim and NBB are certainly in a privileged position, financially, to be making statements like this, but their values are still intact. Being an employee owned company is simply awesome, IMO. Tough call from 10 Barrel's perspective, since on the one hand, so many others are making it happen without the help of big $$, but having a value placed on on your brand and taking it to the next level cannot be faulted either. Running a brewery day in and day out is simply an exhausting grind and getting paid for that hard work has got to be an incredible feeling. "Getting paid" is also an ambiguous term since no one is privy to the financials so who knows regarding that one. To that end I say congratulations on the next chapter in 10 Barrel's history. They'll take some flack for sure, but my guess is they won't care and much wont change...
