Litt Creat PA on penalties over Wild Thing. It was 3-3 after extra time in a cracking game.

On that, I do hope that those who are voting for Hop Hog are doing so having actually had both beers.

Funkonnay was a mess. I don't see how it could possibly be considered better then Hop Hog, but to each their own.

Just wanted to point out that the approach of "not voting in a matchup because you haven't had one of the beers" is just as flawed as "voting in a matchup where you haven't had one of the beers"

Entirely disagree. If you are going to vote, I would hope that it is based on a first hand understanding of the beers. Sure, you may think that Beer X is the best beer ever brewed but if you have never had the beer you are comparing it to it is a false comparison.

@Lukie - everyone perceives these things differently. I really enjoyed it at Beervana. You have had the beer and I have no problem with you expressing an opinion that the beer was bad.

If only one or two people has had a beer and they think it's the best thing ever, then logically that beer would take out the whole comp based on the fact that no-one else is permitted to vote against it as they haven't had it.

    My votes
    Wmwh
    BRIS
    Feral rye ipa
Hop hog (yes had both at beervana ok, not great in Perth really ordinary)

If you ain't had both you can't vote. If you do vote not having tried both you are perpetuating ba hype which sucks or personal bias which also sucks

A fair point but on that logic you can easily end up with a situation where VB beats out Clout Stout based on wide distro. Clearly, restricting it skews the results but I think that is preferable to having a situation where votes are cast based on hype (or worse nothing) rather than actual experience. If we move to that model, we may as well just use the BA average scores.

Mistress M: When will you be ready? (shouted down a hallway)
Me: Later, I'm watching a philosophical discussion about whether beer exists if you haven't drunken it, whether it's right to deem one beer worthy of a vote by virtue of its excellence, as opposed to a straight match up and whether our competition is intrinsically flawed because of this.'
Mistress M: 'You've got 20min, then I'm leaving. I'm taking your car too.'

Anyone else free in Perth for a beer? I am now.

Wide distro wouldn't help VB if the only ones voting have to have consumed a 900 bottle count beer.

Cancel my votes Mr 5bellies, I've still got 245 bottles to go before my votes for WMWH v BAHH count. I will let you know if I get it done before cut-off.

Thanks for ruining (making it more awesome!) my week now Mr K. :)

If you vote only having had 1 then wide distro will do it.

Ok folks results from last round as follows, Clout and Feral Rye IPA had equal votes with Clout winning on countback.

Controversial indeed. I suggest we get this sorted out before we go for the International BA cup, I plan on running next.

    La Sirene - Saison (3)

    Nail Clout (4)

Poor Hop Hog. In the hierarchy of beers, IPAs are always going to lose to stouts. As a great man once didn't say 'Never bring an IPA to a stout fight.'

Or perhaps, non-imperials are always going to lose to imperials.

Having said that, Warhead seems at good odds for putting the lie to that theory.

That's how Palpatine became so successful...

I put sours above stouts in the Beer Geekery Hierarchy, so I think Warhead fits in with that.

I re-read your post Mr Spicelab and realised I misconstrued it. You were talking about your theory. Stupid Brenden.
