BeerAdvocate & Sixpoint Brewery Host Third Annual Celebration of Beer, Food and People for a Good Cause at The Bell House in Brooklyn, NY

(February 25, 2013 - Brooklyn, NY) The third annual Beer for Beasts charity event hosted by BeerAdvocate and Sixpoint Brewery will take place on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at the Bell House in Brooklyn, NY. The event celebrates creativity in the form of dozens of exclusive beers, New York City's best food vendors and creative entertainment, all in the name of compassion toward animals. All proceeds will directly benefit the Humane Society of New York (http://humanesocietyny.org).

Tickets go on sale Friday, March 1, 2013 at noon EST for $65 per person and includes access to one session (1pm-5pm or 6pm-10pm), plus beer and food tastings. Access to live entertainment is first come, first served. All attendees must be 21+ with a valid ID.

"Beer for Beasts isn't just another beer fest," stated BeerAdvocate founder Todd Alström. "It's a celebration of things we love and a fundraiser for those that show us unconditional love."

Beer for Beasts 3 will feature dozens of handcrafted beers made exclusively for the event at Sixpoint's Red Hook, Brooklyn-based brewery, including for the first time a collaborative brew with The Humane Society of New York's president Virginia Chipurnoi and executive director Sandra DeFeo.

This year's event will also feature stand-up comedians and music selections curated by East Village Radio's local deejay crew "Chances with Wolves," whose performances at the last two years' events were met with rave reviews.

"Beer for Beasts is the ultimate barn-raising event for brewers," said Sixpoint founder Shane Welch. "It's inspiring to see an entire community rise up for a good cause, and also share their talents for everyone to enjoy. When you combine raw creativity with good intentions, the positive outcome is boundless!"

Beer for Beasts has raised tens of thousands of dollars to directly aid the better treatment of animals.

    About Sixpoint Brewery
Sixpoint was born out of an 800-square-foot garage in Brooklyn, New York City, in 2004 by Shane Welch, a professional brewer who had amassed over 1,000 individual homebrew recipes. The brewery's name is derived from the ancient six-pointed brewers' star, which had symbolically adorned the walls and equipment of ancient breweries since at least the Medieval period. Sixpoint's motto is "Beer is Culture," to highlight the human trajectory—the earliest human civilizations were founded upon the cultivation of cereal grains for making beer. Sixpoint aims to perpetually inspire the art, creativity and community generated through beer by acknowledging the history of the craft, while forging ahead to inspire culture in a modern setting. http://sixpoint.com
