I'm a big fan of youngs double chocolate stout. So I figured I'd give the well's and young's "banana bread beer" a try. That's where I messed up. Couldn't even finish the 4 back. Had to give them away to an unexpected victim.

-Any one else have high hopes for a beer only to be let down?

Dogfish Head Ta Henket.I buy every new DFH brew I see, simply because 90 minute was the beer that got me into the craft scene.

I know that Ta Henket is what it is, but I didnt really enjoy it at all. Oh well, its just money. Tick!

Yeah dfh is normally fantastic. Wasn't a fan of their Midas touch either.

blue point oatmeal stout. Very thin and a little bitter. It had this overbearing aroma... took me a few days to figure it out that it was coconut... and not in a good way... more like a suntan lotion way.
Tried to offload it on my husband. even he couldn't do it. down the drain it went.

  5. Cigar City Cucumber Saison.
    Unthinkable.

    Cucumber Saison was tasty.

I regret buying Belgo Anise IRS.
Oh, and Wild Blue. Wild Blue is the reason I always check reviews before buying beer now.

I regret purchasing a year old Double Jack! Rolled the dice and didn't see the invisible bottled date until I got home. Tasted pretty good, will need to get a fresh one!

  18. If I can't find a single thing I like about a beer I have no qualms feeding it to the sink. Doesn't happen often, but it does happen (cigar city sea bass was another one that my in-sink-erator gladly guzzled)

Smuttynose Baltic Porter. I know it's well regarded and stouts/porters are my favorite style but that stuff was a drain pour for me.

I guess Baltics are out for me.

you're lucky your tastebuds have never been challenged at that level. Not forcing a beer down my throat due to principle.
The voodoo donut posts made me laugh. I just saw a bottle (mmmm maple bacon!) last week in a shop.
pepto pink = a subliminal message

I'm on the love side for Midas Touch...

Southern Tier Creme Brûlée was disappointing. Loved Choklat, and I am a Creme brûlée junkie. This not so much...really wanted to like it, tried hard, never got there.

Innis and Gunn Rum Cask...caved to peer pressure, wish I hadn't. Did not like the rum taste ( candy like to me), mouthfeel too thick and sticky. Good friend loves it, constantly chatted it up. Not my thing.

I've had that banana bread beer. I love banana bread (and am knowing to bake a pretty damn good one) but that beer was horrid.

I regret buying NG Enigma. I know that it gets some love here, but I hated it. I ended up mixing it into the self made sample 6 packs that I gave to friends for Christmas.

  25. Blue Hills Brewery here in MA made the single worse beer I've ever consumed. Oktobrau. Christ on the cross, this was awful. Drank half of it while questioning my own tastes and palate before it went down the toilet. This soupy dreck wasnt even sink worthy. Havent really touched anything from Blue Hills since. They really let me down.
