I bought a 2 year old, old guardian an one of the worst beers ive ever had.
Flossmoor Station Imperial Schwartz & Finlaggin Scotch. Bought two of both. Yup I'm I sucker for waxed caps.
Made myself finish the the one of both I opened. The others are in the cellar with the Frangelic Mountain Brown hoping for a miracle.
There are three that I distinctly remember:
1 was a Voodoo Bacon Maple Ale from Rogue... Blech and I'm not sure I want to risk the latest offering either...
2 and 3 were White wine barrel 11/11/11 and Red wine Saison du Buff, both $15 and pretty terrible IMO
Hoppin Frog Mean Manalishi. Worst bomber investment ever.
Hop on top, gross.
Michelob Cactus Lime. Nastiest beer I have ever had.
Orval Trappist Ale
Either I'm not a fan of Belgian Pales or both of these were bad bottles
The Matilda I would swear was infected, because I almost tossed cookies on the second sip. It was just rancid.
The Orval I simply didn't care for (it smelled similar to Matilda - only I was able to barely drink it.)
Also, but not quite as bad, a 2008 Three Philosophers that I thought was at least a year past it's prime.
I was able to take the remaining 3 bottles back for a refund.
Buffalo Bills Pumpkin Ale (WTF was I thinking??)
SN Tumbler (don't kill me! I wanted to like it but it tasted horrible to me, the only SN beer I don't like)
This almost makes me cry IRL....almost...I must be the only Banana Bread Beer fan on this board!
I thought CCB Cucumber Saison was delicious.
Beer of the Gods. Was just tasteless and boring. And Pumking.. tasted like someone stuck a pumpkin pie and bag of sugar in a blender and then bottled it. Couldn't take more than two sips.
Another DFH. This one was Sah Tea or however you spell it, don't care. Garbage..
Did you have this when it first came out? I thought it was pretty darn good.
You must be.
DFH has some funky brews.
Green Flash Friendship brew.
A friend of ours was just in Northern California and knew I loved Pliney and that Russina River is not distributed in Idaho, so she picked up $240 work of beer for my wife without any direction at a Whole foods- picking many Russian rivers and other expensive beers. I am not a huge sour fan, and she picked out many sours- apparently these beers need to be aged. I couldn't tell if the bottle had gone south- or if it was supposed to be that bad. I am a cheap a$$ and rarely drain pour. One such beer was highly rated Deschutes "The Disident"..... yuck.
BROWN SHUGGA. I DESPISED that beer.I might be alone, but I really thought that it was one of the worst beers I have ever had. I choked down the first, waited a few weeks to try it again and ended up drain pouring it. Gave the rest to a friend.
Bud Light Clamato
Accepting all rejected Wells Banana Bread beers, c/o my house. Thanks!
Glibber, feel free to send me all of your 'terrible' RRBCs
Did you age 11.11.11 or did you drink it when it hit the shelves?
Mikkeller Black Hole (Peat)
6 pk of Bigfoot (taught me I'm not the biggest Barleywine fan)
I keep a bottle of every beer I have tried. So as long as it's a new bottle it's a win for me anyway. I might need to rent a storage locker for my bottle collection soon. Also if you can mix a six you will have less regret.
I peel the labels off and store them in a photo album.
Good grief I loved Enigma. Please add me to your Christmas list.
Voodoo Donut (cool bottle, terrible beer), Sam Adams Cranberry Lambic
Yeah the triple was pretty rough. It tasted sorta like cough syrup (probably even worse as it didn't have all the fake sugar to hide some of the massive boozy and astringent flavors.)
Most anything by Nebraska. Anything I have had by them, reviewed or not, has been very good, just not worth the ~ 1.2 dollar per oz price you have to pay for their brews. Like Hop God: 10 oz = 12 dollars where I can get Avery Maharaja where 10 oz for just 3.75 (with Maharaja being quite very tasty). Nebraska makes good stuff, just way too pricey.
Ouch! One of the best porters I have had...to each his own I guess
Would have to be Leinies Summer Shandy. However, it turned out to be the best purchase form my wife. It quickly became her favorite this summer. Close tie for second was the Atwater Grand Circus IPA and an ESB that I think I my mind is trying to block as i cant remember the brewery.
I did like the Leinies vanilla porter and the ST Creme brulee
The magic hat ESB was naaaasty
Mine was a 6er of SN Celebration. Wanted to punch myself in the neck once I took the first drink. Luckily I had a few friends come over a couple days later, and voila, SN Celebration was taken care of.
Thats what makes this board so awesome. Opinions are all over the place.
I take pics of them. Less to collect dust.
Triple Bock....triple bock.
Drank it fresh. I'm not a fan of peppers and to me it tasted like biting into a green pepper
I have to try another Baltic. It may just be that particular style of porter that doesn't jive with me.
