Jumping off the 6pk stout thread.
I have to go with Smuttynose Robust
Incredible beer. 9 bucks.
Followed by Founders
And then Left Hand Fade to Black pepper porter was outstanding as well
Deschutes Black Butte Porter all day long!!
hmmm.. Bells Porter or Great Lakes Edmun Fitgerald... Although its an Imperial Porter, would Gonzo count now that its in 6ers?
Arcadia London Porter, Bell's Porter, Founders Porter. All different profiles, each suits a different mood. I put that trio up against nearly any other porters out there.
Mayflower Porter in MA, the best by far.
Edmund Fitzgerald all day
Deschutes Black Butte Porter, Left Hands Black Jack Porter, Anchor Porter.....not sure I can pick any one.
Also, have yet to try Ska's which I have heard really good things about.
Forgot about Anchor Steam's. A great one
Call me old fashioned but I love the Anchor Porter as an easy to find porter.
Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald...$8.99 per 6 pack
Man, 3 way jinx on the anchor. That's cool!
Founders porter, Great lakes edmund fitzgerald, O'so night train.
This is my answer as well.
The best porter available to me in a 6 pack is the best porter out there, Black Butte.
I guess I'd have to go with Edmund Fitzgerald, though I also love Anchor's porter and Highland Brewing's Oatmeal Porter.
Ooh, wait -- I'm changing my vote to Duck-Rabbit's Baltic Porter (when it's not infected, of course).
For now: tie between Founders Porter and GL Edmund Fitzgerald
Soon: Revolution Eugene
Gonzo? I've barely tried any porters tbh though.
My vote for MA is Founders.
Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald, Yard's Washington Porter. Even thought they don't call it a porter, I'll throw Dark Horse's Special Black Ale in the ring.
Love Founders Porter and Smutty Robust Porter. Both can be found in MA.
These are not necessarily "the best" but what is almost always available for when I want a good porter:
Sierra Nevada and Yuengling. Also a big fan of Breckenridge Vanilla Porter
Great Lakes' Edmund Fitzgerald is absolutely fantastic.
Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald & Founders Porter
I have to agree with Black Butte. I could go with Kona Pipline Porter as well.
But not having had Arcadia, I substitute Fullers London Porter. I could live with that bunch to the exclusion of all others.
Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald and Founders Porter are really all I need. I like having access to Arcadia London Porter and O'Fallon Smoke as well..
Arcadia's London Porter and Smuttynose Robust Porter are my choices, but Bell's and Founders are close runners-up. If you want to consider 'special' porters, then Arcadia's Shipwreck Porter is the clear winner -- you just have to purchase 6 of them to get a six pack.
Smuttynose and Fuller's.
Black Butte would be up there, but it isn't available in Fl. Drank so much of that stuff on the west coast while I was there though.
Black Butte. Wish Pipeline Porter was available all year around here
Founder's Porter would be first, but it's been hard to find a fresh bottle of that brew 'round here as of late and I like my porters at the very least not bottle in Feb. Fuller's London Porter is the runner up, but I haven't been able to find that one at all around here in months. So the default goes to Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald. Great stuff though for sure. If you like coffee, this is your session beer. And I have to give a shout out to Smuttynose Robust Porter (tons of coffee in this one) and Bell's Porter (great, easy drinkin porter).
Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald
In that order for me at least.
Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald
In that order.
Troegs Dead Reckoning
Founders Porter & Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald - so far.
Founders is and will probably always be my favorite porter.
