Actually you are the crazy one.
Edmund is the best porter without a doubt.
Berkshire brewing coffeehouse and anything by Meantime in England
512 Pecan Porter
Real Ale Coffee Porter
Ballast Point Victory at Sea
Deschutes Black Butte
because it isn't very good?
To you, I would guess not.
I have largely been turned off to Great Lakes brews due to the odd cocoa taste I get from their beers and their higher than normal abvs for the style which reduces sessionability but I still very much enjoy Eddy Fitz and Blackout Stout, perhaps because the cocoa taste either blends in to the flavor profile or it is not there.
I've had all the other ones you mentioned but Black Butte and they are all excellent although the Original Flag is an odd bird, very light for the style, really almost a Brown Ale.
I like the list. Black Butte is one of my favs. Down here in SoCal we have Oil Piers Porter from Surf up in Ventura. One of the best porters I have ever had.
Samuel Smith taddy Porter
Smuttynose Robust Porter
St. Peter's old style porter
Entire Butt English Porter (Saopian Brewing Company)
Hill Farmstead Everett
Russian River Porter
Im getting an Everett this weekend.
Flying Dog Gonzo
I have a bottle each of Alewerks Bourbon Barrel Porter & Boulevard Sea Legs I need to open & I really want to try Victory at Sea.
Uinta Sea Legs is worth checking out
Eddie Fitz, Founder's, Bell's and Anchor are great porters, for sure. But I need to add a few others. I won't be ranking them because my head would explode with the effort. Favorites I've had (and would gladly hurt people I like just to get a chance to drink them again):
Puppy's Breath from Cigar City
Entire Butt from Salopian
Old Engine Oil Special Reserve (the name alone is great)
Fade to Black Vol. 2
Sinebrycoff (I'm a sucker for the Baltic style)
Barrel-aged Gonzo Imperial
Piiti Porter from Funky Buddha
Last Snow from Funky Buddha (would seriously consider putting someone in hospital for this)
And Stoney Creek (Detroit) made a Vanilla Porter many moons ago. Think they are out of business now. Speaking of Stone, sort of, Stone Smoked Porter is very good but not A+ material, more A- and damned hard to get around here for some reason.
Eddy Fitz is the gold standard
I also like Black Butte too, great mouthfeel. Founders is pretty nice as well, a little more hoppy than most.
Long Trail Imp Porter rocks
Edmund Fitzgerald always is top notch
I'm from Cleveland and can't stand Great Lakes beers but the Edmund Fitzgerald is the only one I can tolerate but it's definitely not my first choice.
Breckenridge Vanilla Porter is very good. Tommyknockers Cocoa Porter is also very good.
Moerke Pumpernickel Porter is quite good if you seek it out.
Maui Coconut Porter and Avery New World Porter are both solid.
Showing some love for Smuttynose Baltic Porter here. But Black Butte tops my all time fav list. Hands down.
I've had the heavyweights, but our local Beachwood Mocha Machine is wonderful too.
My two favorite are
Stones Smoked Porter
Why? Because they have exactly what I am looking for when I dont want a stout
the one your drinking at the time imo
Victory At Sea
Walkers reserve, black butte, cutthroat porter, stone smoked porter are some of my fav's.
Dont they Barrel age it?
Which one? Arcadia barrel ages their Shipwreck Porter, bit not their London Porter. I'm pretty sure O'Fallon barrel ages their Smoke too.
Shipwreck, thats what I was thinking of. I really liked that one. Sadly, the BA Cereal Killer was a disappointment.
Founders is my favorite
Otter Creek Stovepipe
Favorites that I've had:
Funky Buddha Last Snow
Cigar City Jose Marti
I keep passing up Victory at Sea at the beer store because it's kind of expensive ($10.99 a bomber) but I plan to try it soon.
Funky Buddha Maple Bacon Coffee Porter
Funky Buddha Last Snow
Black Butte Anny
Victory at Sea
Nothing beats that Buddha MBCP though. For me, there's THAT beer, and there's the rest.
Founders, central waters mud puppy porter, and of course black butte
Kona's Pipeline Porter is pretty tasty Deschutes Black Butte Porter also awsome
Class of '88 Dechutes and Great Lakes Imperial Smoked Porter (if you like smoke) is amazing. Just wonderful.
smuttynose robust porter.....sweet blonde hair, blue eyed baby jesus...
For US porters:
Nogne O - I think this is best ever. Even better than my own homebrew
Samuel Smith Taddy Porter
Fuller's London Porter
Ballast Point Victory at Sea comes to mind
Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald
River Horse Chocolate Porter
drinking Black Butte right now, i like it but i've had better
