  1. Didn't get a confirmation email. Looks like I'll just need to be more strategic for when I go up there next.

I dont know if this has happened to anyone else but my outlook popped up with an email subject that said Congrats!

My heart stops, I immediately click and open it only to find out it's the alumni association of some organization congratulating me for being invited to something I care nothing about. My eyes keep darting to the incoming email windows in the bottom right corner.

    Same here!

  4. Yea it was somewhat like that for me. I got spam email saying, you have been selected for blah blah blah. What a cruel coincidence. Actually surprised how upset I am I missed out. Damn!

    Congrats to the winners!

    Signed, Loser
  5. For any non-winners hankering for a beautiful wooden crate, maybe try contacting Darren Hill directly through his website or facebook:

Based on the sweet pictures of his work, I bet he could build a kick-ass growler caddy.

One thing I learned from this thread was that Number45 must be a good golfer.

You can always give lessons for free.
  14. Could always do it on the side, at least in this one time instance. I'm probably going to need some lessons, I hate winter. Idk how you could do it in VT. My swing ends up different every year, and now with work, no more scratch handicap for me lol.
  15. Only wish I knew if I didn't get into the process to begin with because of failing a rule or I just wasn't selected. I can't help but think I screwed up the application!

I very much enjoyed reading this thread, not as much as some of the other nuked threads. But it was still worth my time.
Rest in peace, Battletoads Joke, and enjoy your upcoming pilgrimages. Enjoy the journey.

And this is the only thing I'm a tiny bit happy about.

The crate is AWESOME, but I live in a NYC apartment. Not much room for stuff like that!

    MsRif Savant (410) Pennsylvania Oct 23, 2011

I don't think the essay had any bearing on winning? I believe it was just required for entry and that the lottery was random. Mine wasn't anything special...I was just honest and basically said that I have enjoyed the HF beers that I've had and that I'd love to have the opportunity to try more and to share them with locals here in PA. I will definitely NOT be trading any part of the Collected Works package, either...it's a shame that anyone would enter with that as their motivation but I'm sure it was a common reason for entry.

I have a feeling the essay was a determining factor at some point, whether it be pre-drawing or post-drawing. I figured they'd pull names at random and if that person was too close in proximity or had a shitty essay, they just pick a new name. I can't imagine they'd read through all of them first, throw out the "bad" ones, and then draw names.
  36. MsRif

    MsRif Savant (410) Pennsylvania Oct 23, 2011

Did anyone from VT get in? I was wondering if locals would be disqualified. They didn't state that locals couldn't enter, they only discouraged it so it seems like everyone was eligible.
  37. I have yet to convice myself to stop checking the spam folder for a miracle. Any one in Western PA get lucky?

Now trying to figure out a nice sweet spot on the calender for my first visit this summer to hopefully still be able to bring home a nice variety.

congrats to all winners, condolences to all losers.

my friend and i got in (we're only taking up 1 membership and splitting all bottles) so ex off a membership's worth of potential bottles from the trading block. /hat tip to everyone whose whale bait value i just increased.

in other news, can't wait til another 9~10 hour trip to hill farmstead w/ my friend and his wife (i've been there once). VT beercation is the shit. doing it annually will be awesome.

edit: p.s. "my friend's wife" is also my friend. i hate language.

  39. I feel like it had to have SOME bearing on the winning entries. Why else would they ask for one if it was completely random?

Just checked my spam filter and the only emails in there are offers to extend my manhood 2-4 inches. Such a shame because if I was picked in the HF lotto I would automatically have 6 more inches!

Would have brought me to 7. *kicks dirt* :(
