I was just curious as to how much craft breweries might pay for their hops. I know some are on contract and that helps. I was just wondering how big of a difference to the regular homebrewers cost might be. Anyone have any idea?
  2. A few dollars a pound for a large craft brewer would be in the right range. More for a smaller craft brewer.

They pay less for the grain when they buy by a semi load, or a train car.

I am not 100% sure since I don't do our ordering, but I think our Cascade is about 5-6$ per pound. I think more expensive hops like Citra are around $10 per pound.

Our brewery is considered small. We brew about 30 bbl each week. Sometimes (this week) we do 60 bbl. We have Cascade, Citra, Sorachi Ace, Chinook, Citra, Williamette, EKG, and Magnum on contract.

    "You said Citra twice."

    "I like Citra."

Lol... I guess I felt like bragging. If we could just get Amarillo now we would have everything I want.
