Great Britain Derby CAMRA Winter beer festival?

    I will be on a 10 day Cask ale tour of the UK in February and we are going to this festival. Any BAs want to meet up and share a pint? Will have plenty of Craft beer in tow from the states.
    Any meet ups along the way would be cool. here's an idea of our Schedule

    UK BEER TRIP - rough schedule
    February 2013

    Thurs Feb 7

    Fri Feb 8
    · Check into Manchester hotel and see city and pubs by foot (4-hour tour of Manchester United Stadium is an option for anyone interested)

    Sat Feb 9
    · Board our bus for lunch at the famed Craven Arms / Cruck Bar pub in the Yorkshire Dales.
    · Tour Theakston's Old Brewery and taste some real ales
    · Snack and sip beer at the Black Sheep Brewery Visitor's Centre
    · Bus ride to Edinburgh, Scotland (we should pack plenty of beer to drink on the way)

    Sun Feb 10
    · Bus to two single malt distilleries: Tullibardine, Blair Athol, Famous Grouse?
    · Back to Edinburgh for evening pub crawl

    Mon Feb 11
    · Morning tour of Edinburgh Castle and/or Edinburgh Scotch Whisky Experience
    · Bus to Traquair House Brewery
    · Regional Pub of the Year (POTY) visit on way south for cask ales and food
    · Hotel in Sheffield for four nights (Sheffield is the top cask ale city in the UK)

    Tues Feb 12
    · Nottingham Castle
    · Castle Rock Brewery visit and pub lunch
    · Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem - England's oldest pub
    · Sheffield pubs that evening

    Wed Feb 13
    · Bateman's Good Honest Ales brewery visit
    · Derby Winter Ales Festival
    · Bus back to Sheffield after festival

    Thurs Feb 14
    · See Spike start the morning collaboration brew at Thornbridge Brewery
    · Thornbridge tasting and light lunch in the visitor's centre
    · Bus to original Thornbridge brewery site and tour manor house grounds
    · Tour Thornbridge's pubs in the area by our bus
    · End with music and cask ales at Thornbridge's cool jazz pub

    Fri Feb 15
    · Burton-Upon-Trent (historic cask ale mecca of the UK)
    · National Brewery Centre visit and lunch
    · Burton Bridge Brewery pub & one other town pub
    · Bus to London hotel
    · Bus will drop us off at hotel in London

    Sat Feb 16
    · London sightseeing and pubs by tube (underground train) and foot

    Sun Feb 17
    · Take the tube to London Heathrow
    · Heathrow has two great Wetherspoons cask ale pubs we can hit while we wait for our flight
  2. I live in Manchester and am quite the gregarious fellow
    would be great to meet up with other Ba people so count me in for your first leg of the trip :)

  6. Sounds a very ambitious scedule. Might be OK for Nottingham.The Trip is always worth a visit though not for the beer.
  7. I'm in Derby so it'd be great to meet up at the festival. Or in Burton, Nottingham, Sheffield etc.

    Thornbridge will look after you well, they're a great bunch. If you make it to one other pub in Burton, make it the Cooper's Arms. And pack a spare liver - you'll need it ;)
