In Houston I go to Cottonwood a lot. Awesome food, and 30 taps +2 casks. Downhouse, which has about 10 taps, craft cocktails, and interesting food. Hay Merchant has 80+ taps and 5 casks. Then, the first Gingerman, which is considered by many to be the first "modern beer. bar" I really want that signed JP Donleavy copy of the book behind the bar :). For the last 5 years they have let BA's have a standing tasting there every month. Micheal Jackson called it one of his favorite bars in America.

Excellent thread! I'm not from East Coast and always looking for good beer spots.
Seems like a wasteland in Jersey. Still need to do daytrip to Philly for cheesesteak, history,
    and good beer!!

  17. In Chicago I'm choosing my favorite spot for reasons other their ridiculously fantastic beer list. Or, rather, in addition to their great selection...

My wife and I had our first date here:

Six plus years later we're still very happily married.

Not counting all of the massive/awesome beer bars in Denver, I end up at the Bull & Bush and Royal Hilltop (a tiny pub with great taps in Aurora) as much as anywhere else.

My cousin used to bartend at The Library. Do you know any Munros?

My favorite places in Chicago are Haymarket and Revolution's brew pub. Good food, good beer lists and good people running them.

Man, Mikro is a nice place. I've only been there once despite living five miles away. (Well, that's because Prime 16 is in walking distance, but still. Anyway, Mikro has more interesting food).

  35. If you're in the Delaware County area of Pennsylvania (a suburb of Philly) you've got to try Pinnochio's. The beer garden has over 850 different beers from all over the place. They have the local guys as well as some of the crazy belgian lambics that only a half a dozen people have heard of. The staff is very cool and great to talk to over a pint. Seriously, check these guys out if you're in the area. They may not have a lot of floor space but you won't find a better selection with equally awesome people selling you the beer anywhere in the area. do it... do it!

Here in Spokane I would say its a toss up between Pints and the Manito tap house!
