Wow, if it would only survive until Sunday.
Nah,I don't hate you at all.Actually, I enjoyed ur post and got reminded of myself while reading as I am always down for a spur of the moment brew run.Sometimes you gotta do what ya gotta do to "get a taste",even though you know your ass WILL be exhausted the next day at work....lol.Hope I get a chance to try CBS someday.
I saw this thread last night and immediately called my friends living in Chicago and told them about it. They've never had it before and were pretty happy about it. Thanks a lot OP. You didn't have to put up this thread, but you did.
Hah true I could have kept mouth closed and enjoyed CBS all weekend probably. In the end I felt bad having 3 glasses like I was hoarding some precious substance for myself, so I had to pass it on to my local BAs.
I need to get there immediately after work today. Anyone up for a beer?
Pissed I missed this. Was at Half Acre and Jury's yesterday after work too.
Arrgh, missed the "dead" part.
I was at Owen & Engine drinking Bramble Rye. Like a fool. I would have much preferred some hot CBS action.
any of that bramble left? hitting up revolution after work today and meeting a fellow BA for an IP trade. i could probably swing by since it's fairly close.
Really not sure. I would call and ask. I saw another table enjoying a bottle as well.
I got to Bad Apple around 5:30 with a fellow BA Totallyhosed. We heard a rumor they had CBS and we were shocked to see the tap handle when we walked in. We each ordered a snifter and after the 1st amazing taste we agreed not to order another so other BAs would be able to enjoy the same. FUCK was it hard to watch glass after glass being served but it's all about sharing beer. Sooo we orderd some Dragon's Milk and pretended it was CBS gone bad.... We also had some great sours and some food. Great to meet ya Dlello2... I got some cool shit lined up for the beer share in June. I will send out emails soon. Cheers!
ah, okay. i thought it was on tap. i have one in the fridge waiting for me, but i haven't had the 'time'. turns out my gf who didn't like beer (but could slam a bud or corona etc, when need be) now loves anything bourbon county and other stouts. she loved dark lord and was stoked to try out the different years of KBS we had. thanks to those people too.
For what it's worth, as much as I enjoyed the hell out of CBS last night, I was also thinking to myself "you know I'd probably enjoy a Bramble just as much." I don't expect everyone to agree with that, of course. And any hugely reputable beer is worth going through hell and high water just to try it for the first time.
So, just to reiterate, IT'S GONE (per the bartender at close last night). Hope you guys who haven't had it yet find an opportunity. I'm guessing there will be others.
I like Bramble a good deal better actually. I just have a couple in the fridge, so CBS would have been a nice Wednesday surprise.
Either way, I grabbed some Blis bourbon barrel syrup at Sur la Table yesterday, and plan to eat the shit out of some challah French toast and bacon Saturday morning. I will have to settle for KBS to wash it down I suppose.
Just called over there. Confirmed that it kicked last night by the current bar tender.
Perception gap. In terms of taps, anyway, Bad Apple > Fountainhead.
Even though they didn't 'announce' it, I did notice CBS on Bad Apple's menu on beermenus.com the day before anyone posted about it here. I'm in Michigan so I didn't get to go, I just enjoy perusing the beer porn that is beermenus.com.
I corroborate this. Drank one glass and watched the BAs pour in.
Nice talking to dlello2 and his friends. Hope you enjoyed the Oude Bruin.
I'm gonna disagree here.....posting stuff on facebook and twitter is not catering to their "loyal" fans. I by far appreciate this, even if I were to somehow miss it at a local scene.
Places that sell out of CBS and Black Note within an hour is because they hype the shit out of the event and many non-loyal patrons come there for the release. I would much rather a silent tap that lasts 4 days even if I miss it.
Nailed it. NOT posting about it = rewarding local loyal regular patrons.
Posting it to twitter, facebook, and sites like this.. well, that's not.
I never said announce it to the world on Facebook. I can tell you that if my local place secretly got CBS and put it on a Tuesday and it was gone by Friday, I'd be ticked.
I appreciate the silent releases the most these days to give more regulars and others a chance to catch it. However, it sucks they do alot of these during the day and on weeknights because I often work into the evening and get sucked into not being able to go out. That being said, if I did go to one of these things, I'd drink alot of it because driving across town for just one glass of a hyped beer is kind of lame.
Could you imagine if DLD, Darkness or KTG was a silent release? Gets rid of your scalpers and line cutters real quick huh?
Had a work meet and greet last night. So by the time I read this thread, there was no way I could leave my house. That's 3 times now I've barely missed CBS. One day, elusive whale, you will be caught.
Keep an eye on their beermenus page. I went in a couple weeks ago for a KBS draft that I saw listed there.
I met Beermefitz at the KBS release and this dude is the man! There is absolutely not a better Ba out there, I guarantee it.
Thanks for the heads-up.. stopped by around 11:00 and had a few CBS's then switched to NH Dragons Milk to round out the evening. Great selection there.
I was able to hit this up the other night by chance. I live in the area and have been there often. My gf wanted to go out for a burger. Initially, I thought Kumas, Burger Bar, etc., and then I thought Bad Apple. Checked their beer menu, saw CBS and the choice was made. We were able to get there and although she didn't have any, I had two glasses. So delicious and another white whale off my list! Oh, and I had Elvis's Last Supper - a burger with bacon and peanut butter. It sounds weird, but was tasty!
