GENE SIMMONS TO ROCK NEW RESTAURANT VENTURE

Legendary Rocker Partners With Restaurant Impresario Michael Zislis And Concert Promoter Dave Furano To Open and Franchise A New Restaurant Concept For Music Lovers

Dave Furano, Gene Simmons and Michael Zislis celebrate the launch of their restaurant venture, Rock & Brews

Los Angeles (March 12, 2012) – Gene Simmons, rock legend and media mogul, is parlaying his love for music into a new restaurant and entertainment venture called Rock & Brews™. The concept captures the excitement of live concerts in an authentically themed backstage environment including Rock & Brews’ “The Great Wall of Rock,” rock posters and rock art and multiple flat screen televisions.

Rock & Brews serves rock musicians’ favorite foods and highlights an ever-changing, award-winning craft beer selection with hundreds of artisanal breweries featured from around the world.

The first Rock & Brews is scheduled to open just south of Los Angeles International Airport in the beach community of El Segundo, Calif., on April 3. Several others are in the works in the Los Angeles area, including one at Los Angeles International Airport, as well as locations in Denver; Atlanta; Maui, Hawaii; Tokyo; and Los Cabos, Mexico. The expansion plan anticipates the opening of four Rock & Brews in 2012 with aggressive plans for continued expansion worldwide beginning in 2013 and beyond.

Rock & Brews was inspired by Michael Zislis, a notable force on the L.A. restaurant scene, and Dave Furano, a veteran concert promoter, who are Simmons’ partners in the venture.

    The Food and Drink
Rock & Brews’ casual American menu features a broad selection of “Opening Acts” appetizers, “VIP” salads, hand-crafted burgers, “Headliner” sandwiches, “Front Row” pizzas and “Encores” desserts. The emphasis is on quality comfort foods that feed the soul as much as the appetite.

With hundreds of craft beers to choose from, craft beer is the top grog at Rock & Brews. More than 40 craft beers are available on tap via a state-of-the-art draft system with hundreds more available in the bottle or can. Selections include lagers, pilsners, pale ales, fruit, malty, hoppy, Belgian, dark, on-deck and bottled beer and a knowledgeable staff to help guests navigate the selection. Red and white wines are also available.

    The Concerts
Rock & Brews features multiple large screen televisions that continuously screen concert videos and live recordings of the greatest rock concerts of all time with state-of-the-art sound.

    The Atmosphere
With an ambiance reminiscent of being back stage at a rock event, Rock & Brews features a casual, friendly, energized environment decked out with picnic tables, concert lighting, and retractable projection screens and speakers that create a 360-degree experience. The venue is designed to be family and dog friendly with a play area for kids and a large open-air area where four legged guests can howl to the tunes.

The grand opening of Rock & Brews in El Segundo will feature a private luncheon for returning veterans and a star-studded opening bash that evening hosted by Simmons, Furano and Zislis, benefitting Wounded Warrior Project.

Rock & Brews El Segundo is located at 143 Main Street in El Segundo, Calif. For reservations or information, call 310.615.9890 or visit www.rockandbrews.com.

Nice that they're using the term craft beer instead of micro brew, but how "state-of-the-art" can their "draft system" be if they're not using forward sealing faucets

This place is used to be on the lunchtime rotation from my work, until they shut it down a few months ago for the current renovations. Food was so-so. But, the beer list was really solid. Always had Speedway on tap.

But, the place quickly got a nick-name from all my co-workers that frequented the place.........."Outta-Brews". They were always out of at least 1/3 of the tap list, yet still listed all of it.

I'm just hoping they still have a legit tap list, and don't dumb it down once it Franchises. *Fingers Crossed

Anyone else find this news kind of ironic given that Gene Simmons doesn't drink beer?

The taplist for the location that is currently open doesn't look too bad.

Plus, Maui can always use more beer options.

curious that they don't even sell the ki$$ wine (zin fire) and beer (destroyer) in the us market - major marketing oversight to not serve them at this place.

Eh, I'd rather hit up the Yard House if I want to hit up an over priced franchised restaurant with a decent beer menu. Nothing wrong with this list by any means but plenty of other places that do this niche better and I am sure the $$$ isn't cheap.

Well, I'm impressed that they worked the word "multi-hyphenate" into Simmons' bio. But "...speaking four languages including English, Hebrew, Hungarian, German and some Japanese..." maybe he can speak four languages but he's evidently not very good at counting. And "one of the world’s most recognized personalities"? That's a big stretch.

I'm always in favor of more places serving great beer, but this place sounds like a gimmick I wouldn't be especially interested in trying. How do they know what "rock musicians’ favorite foods" are anyway, did they conduct a poll or something?

And yet, none of these items appears to be listed on Rock & Brews' menu.

EDIT: stop editing your post! Then I have to edit my reply! o_O

  21. Gene has always spoken down to alcohol and those who imbibe. This won't be, however, the first time he has made a business investment in an arena for which he has no interest in. I seem to recall a Swedish KISS lager.

That said, I will not poo-poo a place who will be bringing more craft brews into circulation.

This may be trite, but does anyone else find the name Rock and Brews kinda clumsy? Surely someone could have come up with something more catchy.

Agreed. Even the simple (and somewhat logical IMO) change to "Rockin' Brews", while still clumsy (and cheesy), is at least a snatch better. (hhhhhuhuhuhh huh huh - I said snatch. I suppose "Snatch and Brews" is next. Wait.... that actually does sound nice :) :) )

This is going to end up like "Toby Keith I love This Bar". After a year it will be a BMC pump house for people to get wasted and listen to bad local/cover bands. Any bar with their name attached to a celebrity like Gene has one purpose... Make money at any cost. If it suits them, they will sell the blood of Jesus for a %200 mark up.

The beer list IS actually beyond decent: http://rockn.com/

... Granted I am in Louisiana, so of course that's a good looking list in my eyes. Maybe a local Californian would find it just meh though...

It doesn't matter what rock musicians' favorite foods are. There are enough star-struck people out there who will flock there to eat the same things musicians eat based on [mis]representations - whether the musicians eat the particular item or not.

I really like going to this place, its one of my favorites in Las Vegas. A great combination of butt rock and craft beers. Oh? What? This isn't Aces N Ales in Las Vegas?

Well, imitation is the most sincere form of flattery.
