Ok, have a friend whos bugging me to send some of this CAli Swag out that way, Problem is im not sure whats available out that way. So id like a list of beers I can give him that he can hunt down and ship my way. Doesnt have to be super rare. local, small distro, and tasty is just fine. Thanks for all your help in advance!

PS dont even care the style Stouts sours, porters sasions IPAs (as long as he can find them fresh) all work for me.

  2. Check out www.seekabrew.com for a listing of what Nj has that Cali doesn't and vice versa, can be done with all states

  4. Seekabrew is a great idea.
Also- have him look for certain selections from Weyerbacher, Troegs, Ithaca, Southern Tier, or even Founders- depending on what is fresh or seasonal.

ETA: we are slated to get Great Lakes distributed throughout the state come April 22, as opposed to the very limited availability that we have now. I'm sure Edmund Fitzgerald will be among those we will get.

  6. Depending where in Jersey he is, check Pennsylvania distribution as well.
No point in sending him something that he can get with a quick trip across the Delaware river.

    really?! awesome!

  8. Sure thing- check it out:
"March 11, 2013—CLEVELAND, OHIO—Great Lakes Brewing Company (GLBC), Ohio’s most celebrated craft brewer of award-winning lagers and ales, announces its plan to expand distribution throughout the state of New Jersey. On April 8, 2013, GLBC will enter Central New Jersey with Shore Point Distributing, Inc., and on April 22, 2013, GLBC will enter Northern New Jersey with Kohler Distributing Company. GLBC currently serves Southern New Jersey, and this two-phase rollout will fill gaps throughout the state. Deeper distribution in the state of New Jersey aligns with the company’s strategic growth plans.

Customers can expect to see GLBC’s Year-Round family of beers in package and draft, as well as the GLBC Taster’s Pack (a sampler 12-pack). The new market rollout will involve multiple customer appreciation events, meet-and-greets, tastings, and giveaways throughout the area."

pretty cool for sure, but I wonder if the specific denotation of "year-round family" means only the year-round stuff, or if we'll be getting Blackout, Lake Erie, etc.

We've gotten ALL of them here in Burlington/Camden county. Year rounds and seasonals (Nosferatu, Blackout, Lake Erie, etc...)

  20. Seek a brew is a great tool, and has been helpful for me so far. Is it known to be very accurate? It says Anchorage Brewing has full distribution to New Jersey, but I've never seen any; I'd love to get my hands on more of their stuff!

  21. Seekabrew, like many internet sites (including BA) is only as accurate as it's readers' information. With beer distribution, things are changing constantly, so it's possible some info is outdated.

As for Anchorage in NJ, Hunterdon lists their beers and since Hunterdon is state-wide, that's accurate. Of course, Hunterdon's distribution is going to be based on the beers they have available at any given time, as well as which retailers choose to carry them.

  22. Thank you for the great and detailed response, I'll be sure to keep looking!

  23. See, that's where I disagree with the modern "beer geek" shopping technique. Why search? It costs you time and money. Any good beer store already deals with Hunterdon in NJ - ask your favorite local store to order some. Stores don't order beers unless they know there's a demand. Hunterdon can try to sell them on it, but they can't and don't simply stock every beer in every store. No retailer is going to order every brewers' complete line-up in a beer market increasingly dominated by the "ticker" who is just interested in "one and done" beer buying.

  24. Thanks for the advice, I guess I should use more logic in my thoughts, since I'm ordering things at my job that customers ask for. I'll be sure to talk to the guys next time I'm shopping.

  25. People helping people, keep the craft movement going, I've asked many a small NJ store to order stuff as I know other customers will pick up 6 ers if its there, and have great relationships with a handful of beer stores managers, etc... People helping people, keep BA alive and help your fellow craft enthusiast
