Nope! Sorry. Kicked it last night.
The natural question is, what will replace it?
I might be taking a long lunch tomorrow
Bummer! Wish I had gotten in on that
What's her sister's situation?
I got the pick of the litter it seems, as of the other two only one drinks at all, and not good beer.
#Hashtag DIPA is the winning name for our upcoming release, a double IPA brewed with 100% Simcoe "hop hash." It'll be on tap at CBC this Friday, 3/15 and we'll be pouring it at the EBF on Saturday.
Up next from the Barrel Cellar will be our annual release of YouEnjoyMyStout.
On the sour end, we'll be releasing our golden lambic in the next month or so. This has been refermented in the 4 wine barrels historically used for production of our Kriek du Cambridge. Jay and I tasted it last week, and we think it's pretty bangin' for a 1 year old, unblended, unfruited, straight up barrel fermented sour. I'm personally going to drink the hell out of this.
Back to work!
Is it safe to assume #hashtag will be on until its gone or is it just a one night only beer at the pub?
This is a full 10bbl batch of hop goodness. It'll be on tap for at least 2 weeks.
Awesome. A few of us are coming to Boston for a concert friday night and were planning on hitting CBC first. Excited about #hashtag, and the sour porter especially.
Don't order it! It's totally undrinkable (by anyone other than me).
Is it available in growlers? If yes, is there a limit on how many growlers I can fill/carry out on a skid-stear?
CBC is DONG except for pre-filled growlers of their four house beers and the quarterly rotating seasonal (Spring Training IPA/Hefeweizen/Pumpkin/Big Man) and bombers of their bottling project beers.
Thanks! I didn't realize they didn't do any fresh growler fills. Bummer.
I just saw that the CBC is now available in Vermont. Any chance bombers (or maybe even limited draft) will be expanding to New Hampshire any time soon? After all, it's only a few miles from Ipswich!
Please let us know when this goes on. Wow.
What's DONG mean?
Draft Only No Growler
Draft-only, no growlers, I believe.
I assure you, our growlers are filled fresh nearly every day, and filled via a rather expensive counter-pressure filler which ensures quality of the beer. You are welcome to enjoy an oxidized, foamed-out, flat growler of beer filled from the faucet at the establishment of your choosing, but I will stand by my brewing team and our equipment and assure you that our growlers are fresh and filled directly from our maturation tanks.
We have never offered growler fills of any of our single-batch beers, but our four house beers plus rotating seasonal beers are available in growlers, and our selection of 22 ounce bottles is always up-to-date. You will not find beers fresher nor in better shape.
We're working on it, but as you're no doubt aware, NH is tough and there's tons of paperwork. Might not happen in 2013 but definitely in 2014!
Thanks Will. I never meant to imply anything about the quality or freshness of the growlers (or 22's) for purchase on premises. I just didn't realize that a growler fill from the faucet could be so damaging to the beer (though it makes sense now). Based on what I've experienced at CBC, I'm not surprised you're not willing the put the beer at risk like that.
Funny on numerous levels...
The trading community has come up with a unique term for pretty much everything in the beer world, and these terms often make very little sense when used out of trading community context. So, yeah, Draft Only No Growler is a DONG. DONGs often result in hand-filled bottles by miscreants pouring their drafts into a bottle and sneaking it out of the bar, then putting said beer up for trade. Hence one needs to actually pay attention to the growler filling status of draft only beers when they are conducting a trade for a non-bottled beer. I don't think I've ever seen a hand bottle of CBC up for trade, so you're clear.
How about for Heady, Nugget, Lord, Bot etc... ITG
(Impossible to get)
yes...this is just a joke, or is it?
Anyone know what's on tap right now?
They always have some extras that don't make it to the website, that's why I was asking.
this is kind of a useless interjection, but i want to note that i tried soliel d'hiver the first day they put it on, and i thought it was really excellent. i can see why one might pass it by when they see a powerhouse like blunderbuss on tap, but it's worth checking out. i'm not seeing any reviews on BA at the moment. i thought it was refreshing, well balanced, with lots of subtle, unique flavor. (not very descriptive i know, but you can taste for yourself; i'm just saying i think it's really well done)
Any idea if the new DIPA will be tapped for the lunch crowd? Trying to decide if I should head over or wait until later.
I did call CBC last night but nobody knew what time it would be tapped so I figured I would check here.
Per Will on Twitter, it's "just released." Maybe call again to double check if you want to be sure.
Yup, #Hashtag is on tap now.
Pahn, thanks for the kind words about Soleil d'Hivre. Jay Sullivan directed that beer and I'm really happy with it.
You may not find a bigger fan than me of YEMS but last year was dissapointing. I feel like it was kind of misleading even calling it YEMS due to the sour lactic element. I am however excited to try it again though in the hopes it is back to its origins.
#Hashtag might be the best hoppy beer I have ever had from CBC, great DIPA.
Had it last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. Tons of simcoe flavor and actually a really nice malty background that was at the perfect level of giving the hops something to stand on while still letting them be the star of the show. Oh and the sour porter was perfect in every way. I always leave CBC fully inspired and motivated to improve my beers to try to get to their level.
Wow. Warmed up with a Spring Training IPA this afternoon then jumped up to a #Hashtag. Excellent, excellent, excellent beer. It's a good thing I don't live in Cambridge, otherwise I'd do nothing but drink this beer for the next couple of weeks. Read the posts above. I have nothing else to say.
Hashtag is delicious. Great work on that one.
Girlfriend ordered the Hashtag and we both loved it. However, yesterday's ESB on cask was stellar as well.
Had Hashtag tonight. It was good, but I liked Blunderbuss much better. As much as I love CBC, something gets lost with the hop flavor/aroma in their hoppy stuff. It is still "hoppy", but isn't really up there with Hill Farmstead, Alchemist, Russian River, Alpine, etc. Not really a complaint because everything else is delicious, just an observation.
