That looks really really familiar to me, for some reason. I think I've been there before.
yah, nice avatar
Hands down the winner of the "I would have given my left nut to have been there" award.
Fuckin sour ballers!
Don't forget the JP Lupulo, Bell's Wild One, and the Ghost Face Killahhhh!!!
Here's the pic of the final damage:
Album can be found there for those who care to view:
That and the album... it's just so much porn. Soooo much porn. Bravo.
Did you guys hire a private chef as well?! Damn what a tasting.
We did, probably the last time we're going to do something like that, so we decided to try to go out with a bang. Pictures look better in Google+, which I never use, but this might work:
I wish I had cool people to hang out and drink amazing beer with.
Well that album made me incredibly hungry and thirsty and got me in the mood to cook, so now I'm caramelizing some onions, cooking up some brats and about to crack open a White Rajah. Well done.
What no 05 BCS? NEWBS!
I know, right?
05 is still pretty good.
how'd you guys like the carton berliner? we polished off a growler 2 weekends ago and all really enjoyed it...im bummed there's none left.
But shelf queens was cool?
Not a wale killer, but still a lot of fun!
I loved it. It was tough holding onto that last growler all the way until the tasting. I've also been able to have some at a few bars in the area.
Wow, looks great. How many people?
I think we had 2 dozen or so rotate through over about 8 hours.
it was really tasty, it was very useful in breaking up all that stout that day.
I took my 5 year Dark Lord vertical to Boston this past weekend to share with everyone at my friend's bachelor party. Here are some pictures and notes I took. I know many have done this before, so if you've done the same one or similar, share your thoughts.
Here were my rankings in order of Best to Worst:
Very brief notes on each and what was different I picked up on:
2008 - viscous, dry, toasty, huge dark fruits
2009 - still very sweet, viscous body like the 2008
2010 - hint of sweetness but extremely well balanced, dark chocolate, dark fruits
2011 - little to no sweetness, evident black pepper, "veggie" taste from last year is gone
2012 - way too sweet, confirms fresh Dark Lord does in fact suck
So, there you go. Everyone agreed 2012 was the worst of the bunch, super sweet which it seems happens with every fresh bottle of Dark Lord I've had (10,11,12). My bottle of 2009 strangely didn't seem to die down on the sweetness. It was almost on par with the 2012, but not quite so. Anyway, great experience and I'm glad I shared it with a great group.
23rd birthday tasting with emdawg…
This was during Philly Beer Week a few weeks ago, but it was def a great night had by all!!!
not so much a "tasting" but rather two best friends over to imbibe on some tasty beverages
Great Wednesday night with the Philly crew.
06 LP kriek, bourbon hunahpus, fantasia, the Jaspers, BA wee heavy, veritas 10, whiskey hunahpus, 05 fou foune, apple brandy hunahpus, JJ blauw, black note, 97 kriek, chocolate rain, batch 2 cuvee de castleton.
Apple brandy hunahpus and Blauw were standouts for me, both amazing, thanks Chad!
Last Saturday, we got together for what has been an annual event for our group. Bring the best stuff you have and open it. After months of planning, we finally got the bottle list, hired a professional photographer, and also a private chef for the event. Figured you guys would like to see some cool pics of beer...

How the hell did 8 of you guys get through all of these bottles and really taste everything...
Sick. About to open an Extraneous Cassis for my 33rd on Saturday....how did it stack up against the other players?
We didn't...we drank about 6 of them and drain-poured the rest. Have you ever been to a tasting before? There were about 14 of us, including significant others.
Dude, you're going to f'n love the Extraneous Cassis...it's amazing stuff! Super-jammy and rich!
Oh, I've had it before....opened a bottle maybe a year and a half ago and it was probably the best Kuhnhenn beer that I've ever had (sorry, 2009 BBBW). More curious about the state that it's in now.
Scoping your review on the bottle right now (Whoops! Should've checked there first).
Favorite pic = Lost Abbey Cable Car Kriek in personal gush bowl AKA beer diaper.
Haha yeah, we came prepared! This was the 2nd bottle I've had and after the 1st one, I knew a bowl would be needed to keep all the contents.
Seriously, this looks like a great time. Saw your FB group pics, too. Thanks for sharing the experience. I'll post pics of me and my tasting group (read: me) drinking TX's finest (read: Lone Star) later.
But seriously, thanks for sharing. Great idea having a pro capture the event.
