ME FINALLY DAMNIT!
St Charles Binny's.
Drinking a 1/9 batch...quite good and drinkable for 10%, just a bit overpriced by about $3. Then again, at least it's not being sold in $15 bombers.
Got my yearly (2) sixers at Andersonville Wine & Spirits earlier this evening for $18.99 a piece.
They literally had cases stacked to the ceiling.
Also saw bottles of Abraxas for $22.99.
That's entirely too rich for my blood but I know some people are hungry for said beer.
I got my sixer for $16.99, that's a shame they're charging nearly $20! Their Abraxas pricing, however, is right on the mark (for Chicago).
Andersonville is notorious for high prices and convenience is the only justification for me.
Andersonville is full of hipsters. Too many hipsters equals too many prices. Damn Hipsters!
"This year's batch of Hopslam doesn't taste as hoppy or as good as years prior to this one...what did Bells do to ruin the recipe??!!??"
Nope, this delicious, golden nectar from the beer gods tastes as good as years prior to this one. I snagged a case today in the NW burbs of Chi that was bottled 1/10 so 6-7 days after bottling is as fresh as you can get w/o traveling up to MI. It's great to have my palate slammed again.
having had abraxas..i'd take a sixer of hopslam over a bottle of abraxas anyday
A friend and I split a case of the Slam at Woodmans Aurora yesterday at $15.99 each bottled on 1/10/13. Guy said they had about 10 cases left and that was mid afternoon I believe. Guy said it was goin quick.
That's the cheapest I've heard of so far. I bought mine for $16.99/six, so not much more. But $15.99 is a solid price.
This stuff is fucking delicious.
Woodmans is usually on the cheaper end of beer prices by about $1 or $2. However, the Slam did go up a $1 in price from last year. Still very reasonably priced for a sixer at that high of an ABV and drinking as delicious as ever.
Finally seems to have reached WI--picked up my first two sixers yesterday, old lady ringing me up stopped after scanning one and gave me a confused look and said "OK, so you know these are $18.99 a piece right?" Must be used to the days you could get a beer for a nickel
Hmmmm just cracked a bottle 1/09/13 and its not tasting right...1st off it doesnt have that fruity floral bomb smell I remember from previous years and the taste isnt right. Maybe its just that 1/09/13 batch or maybe im just crazy.
slammin the slam as i type... just as tasty as ever.
$5 a 12oz snifter at Pizzeria Bigga in downtown Royal Oak. Tastes just as good as the bottles.
Has this reached Woodmans in Janesville,WI yet? If so, how much? All the local places near me said that they are unable to get any from their suppliers.
Just had my first one this year on draft, $7 for a pint. Pretty darn tasty still, not much different from last years. If anybody in the Detroit area needs to find some, Finesse at 12 and Schoenherr had about 6 cases during on the floor. It is 17.99 a six pack though (ouch).
Having one before bed. I love this stuff so much. Bums me out that we only get it for a month.
Anyone hear of any Hopslam firkins floating around the good beer bars in the area? I haven't had it cask conditioned in a couple years, and I really enjoyed it.
I'm drinkin the Slam, thinkin about a Blackslam.
We got one in Chicago next week....
Bookending my night with the slam (with Hop Crisis and Jai Alai in between).
