We have signed with Favorite Brands. I hope to get beer down there as soon as April. I got my lab results back on 6 different beers that I will submit tomorrow for TABC approval. As of right now, the plan is to start with Ale, Hop, and Standard. Bottles and kegs. I've got a few barrel aged beers we could send as well, but thats TBD.

That is great news. I know there is a lot of buzz surrounding Firestone and Founders coming to Texas, but I'm just as excited to see Prairie down here.

This is amazing amazing news. We are very lucky to have you come down so quickly and team up with Favorite. Looks like my yearly birthday keg of Live Oak Hefe will be replaced with Standard!

Would an April rollout give you an opportunity to be part of the Big Texas Beer Fest?

Side note to other BA's who may use Facebook, Prairie's page is well worth adding.

I opened a standard about a month and a half ago and thought, this thing needs to be sour... so I took a standard and have it sitting now for a couple months with some cultures from cuvee de jacobins. Has carbed up nicely and is starting to get a little sour note to it.

BTW: April is really sizing up to be a huge rollout month for new breweries hitting store shelves in TX: Firestone, Founders, and Prairie AA thus far.

This will be covered by their collaboration with Saint Somewhere (at least the sour angle)...but I'd really love to try your little experiment. We must pop some brews again soon

Man, I dont like st. somewhere. everything I have had from them either tasted like a rat decomposed in it. or just substandard.
I think I reviewed the one that tasted like death, I'll try to find it.

scratch that, I confuse them with stillwater sometimes.
    substandard still applies, and expensive.

I haven't had any Saint Somewhere in qty but I really have high hopes for this one. Funky Galaxy also sounds pretty interesting

That's because they know it's my birthday in April. I will surround myself with Founders, Firestone, and Prairie Ales and take nude shots.

Well I got two bottles of Standard for free because they just hit the floor and nobody entered them in to the system so they had no idea what to charge me.

The Ale and Hop is $12.

Looking forward to trying these, no idea why they hit Mass.

Can't keep Standard in stock, just finished brewing 60bbls today. The most recent batch has more funk to it. Branded crowns and case boxes will help boost this one. Waiting on those right now.

Sounds like we will have to compete for that sweet sweet nectar.

I've only ever had I guess the first batch of Standard bottles (I have a nice bit of sediment in mine..not enough that I decant it..I free pour and love the cloudy murk with a pillowy foam). I'm going to chill my last ones and drink them this weekend and while ill never say no to more funk I was very happy with that batch. Is the most recent batch closer to where you want it to be? Would you recommend stashing a bottle of those older batches (any active things in them?) or would you recommend pounding them and buying more?

  34. chaseabeer

    chaseabeer Savant (370) Oklahoma Feb 4, 2009

I'd move on to new batches. That first batch got packed a day too soon, thus the heavy yeast load. I'd say its dialed in now. The more I get done, the less I need to rush things. Just been eager to get beer out.

    ETA on Pirate Noir?

Late April, my glass supplier can't get me more bottles for a month. More time in the bottle won't hurt it.
