Didnt care for the quad myself. Pretty one note. Tasted as if SA did a "dark" quad or belgian ale
Got 2 4 packs in specs Arbor walk tonight, in the cold case.
I like it, although it tastes alot like Unibrue's Maudite to me.
Not a bad thing, as i like Maudite, just an observation.
Got some of the quad, and Kevin got some of the other, will have to snatch one from him. Drinking a quad tonight...yummm.
Where did you get yours?
It's readily available at pretty much any Specs or HEB
Specs midtown, took one of the last two 4pks off the shelf though, they may have more, but I wouldn't send someone off there without calling. It shouldn't be too hard to find right now.
surprised you didn't like it. I won't blow you away but I thought it was pretty good. You try the herkules pale yet?
I think both of these are great. I wasn't familer with the flavour of Herkules hops and I can't say they are my favorite but they are so fresh in this beer that they really stand out and I like that.
The Quad is very good as well. Reminded me a bit of a cleaner tasting Rochforte 10.. I agree the finish is very malty with a little alcohol heat. This might age rather well.
My HEB literally has a mountain of it
Round Rock (HEB Plus on 79/Grimes)
HEB at escarpement and slaughter has mounds of it as well.
I just picked up a 4 pack of the Quad at Specs Bay Area.
I thought Black Quad was better than Rochefort 10
I haven't had it yet and maybe you are joking but, really ? Rochefort 10 ?
I really didn't like Rochefort. But that's not saying much, I'm really not into Quads. Actually I'm not into Quads at all. I just gave Real Ale a chance and it was good.
Reviving a dead thread with some new information.
As per Facebook.
Packaging new Brewers' Cut releases. Imperial Red Ale today and Dry-Hopped Porter early next week.
I'm definitely more excited about this release than the previous ones.
I really enjoyed the black Quad. I was actually just thinking to myself that I need to go and buy more of it. But the imperial red ale and porter do sound good.
Nice!!!!!!! Can't wait to try these.
BEK rep said they have 3&4 in the warehouse but will not release it untill they run out of 1 & 2 -
Boo BEK boo!
I liked 1 and 2.. liked the Black Quad the most... might buy another 4 pack to age.
Distributors will often do that with seasonals and limited/series releases, but hey, isn't that a good reason to drink more Black Quad and Signature Hop so we can get three and four out and on the shelves? That sounds like a win-win to me!
Well, looks like ill have to keep getting the quad til i cant find anymore, you know, just to help out!
sure does -
they got 240 quads and 110 signature hops left - looks like 3 & 4 will be out in 1st week of jan...
Ill keep up wiht the quads but someone will have to take on the sig hops
I'll take those on. It's a dirty job but someone has to do it.
I must have had a bad bottle because I thought the signature hop was awful. It tasted like rubber to me that had been melted. I poured it out and I dot remember the last beer that went down the drain. It was terrible. I really am impressed by the quad though. Great beer in my opinion.
drinking the dry-hopped porter right now...crazy, crazy good
I had the Imperial Red last night. Pretty tasty.
Ok, so they've hit Central Texas which makes sense because it's brewed in the area...
now get it to Houston! I love porters and can't wait to try this one...and hope it ages well so I can stock up on it.
I had the Imperial Red at Whole Foods DT Austin probably a month ago at their bar. Very tasty stuff.
The Imp Red is really good. Plenty of hops without being ridiculously bitter, and a good malty backbone.
Are they releasing these in the same manner as the quad and single hop pale? Meaning the porter in 6ers and the Red in fours?
I just hope they are both as readily available as the first two.. as I had no trouble trying those.. and I'm going to age a few of the black quads...
Yep, porter in six, red in four. http://brewerscut.com/home

BC006 BLONDE BARLEYWINE
A blonde Barleywine from the makers of Sisyphus? You can definitely count me in.
Hmm... I haven't tried a barleywine yet but I hear a lot of good things about Sisyphus. I really enjoy Real Ale's other offerings so I think I need to go buy some Sisyphus. I have seen it all over the place I just haven't picked any up because I didn't know what to expect and didn't want to spend the money on something I won't like.
I wouldn't go buy a 4 pack if you haven't had it yet. But they sell singles almost everywhere. It's one of my favorite beers. Also I would check to bottle date. Sisyphus is great fresh.
