I suppose they could be just sitting there empty but there were tanks with Blakkr written on them when I was at Surly two Fridays ago.

  3. From that I assume he means canning run and that BLAKKR has been brewed.
  4. Seriously? Wow. No thanks at $6/can for a black IPA.

I was honestly thinking the same thing but didn't want to be that guy since that's roughly bar price. But seriously, if it's more than Abrasive and not Abrasive I don't see myself buying it more than once. I mean c'mon, that's like a case of Saga.

How could this be THAT much more cost to brew than Abrasive, yet cost so much more? I can understand there might be a slight increase in overall costs(I'm not a home brewer, nor a brewer) but $24, C'mon man.

We don't know that it's going to cost $24 for a 4 pack.

Yes we do. Some guy on the internet said so. Truth.
  10. True! All rumor and innuendo at this point.
  11. Douggo

Exactly. And he heard it from somebody else, so it's, like, confirmed.
  12. Hence the inclusion of the words "rumor has it!" I don't necessarily believe him, but his job is to keep my shelves full of Surly. Wouldn't be the first time a sales rep has been misinformed but we'll find out soon enough!

You should probably post his full name and phone number so that everyone can make sure.

Don't get me wrong, I certainly hope it doesn't come out to $24/4pk, but I bet it's still a better deal than 3F will be offering in bombers.

It could be the most epic, blackest IPA ever created. I also heard this on the internet, so it must be true.

It was brewed today at Surly. Saw Erik Ogershok from Real Ale this afternoon. I assume someone from FFF is here also, either Chris or Barnaby.

Blacker than the blackest black times infinity?

  19. Blakkr than a trillion midnights.
  20. Or, they're here for the show and it was brewed a while back considering someone in this thread saw fermenters with Blakkr written on them...or were those left empty for 2 weeks?

  23. Yes, because no brewery has brewed more than 1 batch of a beer ever.

    shots have been fired!
  25. Coming out on Feb 24th, or Blakk Monday if you will. The cans look bad ass.
  26. So, if fermentation were to have started yesterday that would be a little over 2 weeks from pitch to canning. Doubtful. :)

I hope this lasts in the Twin Cities until the thursday after release. I can't make it up to MPLS until then to buy some. Anyone know if this is being sold out of Surly's taproom as well?

    MNPikey Advocate (575) Minnesota Feb 27, 2011

Against the law for any brewery/taproom to sell beer for off-sale in MN. Same for restaurants here.
  32. deadbody

    deadbody Savant (340) Minnesota May 10, 2010

Not entirely accurate, in outstate areas bars and restuarants can be on/off sale. Doesn't happen much in the Twin Cities, but cities are allowed to issue licenses that do that in some cases
  33. My Wife just brought me home a surprise from the brewery. 10 bucks (no tax), eager to try after dinner tonight.

  34. I'll be in MPLS on Tuesday and trying to visit Surly. Is it available at the brewery at this point?
  35. Blakkr is excellent. I picked up 2 bombers today from Floyds.

  37. Per Surly's Instagram it will be priced similar to Abrasive.

What is it going to take to land this beer in a trade? I'd really love to grab a 4 pack or the bottle version.

Haha, thanks! I guess I was wondering more about what sort of production this saw. Something like an Abrasive which isn't necessarily difficult to find, or something like this year's Wet which was much more sparse than in years past.
