An Oktoberfest beer released in the Winter?
I saw that. Summit already brews an Oktoberfest beer, so I'm not quite sure what's going on here. I'll be happy to give it a shot, though!
Nothing to do with the subject (well, kind of)...but Summit is on sale at PHill for 6.99/six. Picked up a Saga..can't beat the price point!
Always $6.99 at the Oakland rd hyvee in cedar rapids. My go to sixer, be it pilsner, epa, or saga.
Another seemingly harmless thread, jacked by Saga.
I for one will happily drink an Oktoberfest no matter what time of year it is. Yay, Summit.
It's the Unchained series. The chosen brewer gets to brew whatever the heck he feels like.
On Facebook, Summit said it was a springtime fest bier. It is releasing in March, 5.5% ABV.
Maybe a fresh Marzen, before it is aged?
Maifest maybe? Not as big as the Maibock
I literally hate you.
i drive 5min to the grocery store and buy saga for 10.99 a 12er
Here's some current info about the release
This sounds fantastic!
Combo of Oktoberfest and Weiss? I'm in.
Not Weiss, Wies'n, like this one: http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/124/61555/ These are pale Oktoberfest beers that are now served in the tents in Munich.
This beer is near perfection ...
Have not come across this yet. Word is that it is dry and crisp. Just the way I like my lagers.
Is this in liquor stores yet?
I wish Mark would brew his Alt beer again. I loved that beer.
Honored to have the Brothers as big fans of the beer. The beer is not really anything like our fall seasonal Oktoberfest, it's just the closest style to reference while trying to explain the overall vibe. Fest Bier is only about 5.5% ABV and much more dry, bitter and overall hoppy than Okto. I have attended several release events this week and, man, is it easy to put down more than a few of these. Lagered twice as long as any other Summit lager (Pilsener, Okto, Maibock...).
Here's a video interview I shot and edited with brewe Nate Dog Siats:
Chip @ Summit
It has been discussed for brewing on the Pilot System and being served in the Beer Hall. Actually it has been kicked around to do a Throwback Series of Beer Hall Exclusives possibly featuring a lot of the lost brands - ESB, Alt, Scandia, Hefe. Time will tell.
Should be. I have seen stores and beer fans tweeting pics of it on shelves and reviews from bottled pours.
Cool. Make sure you brew the soft ball beer. It's been a long time since I drank the Sparkling Ale.
Summit needs to start its own Frühlingsfest, because this beer tastes much better in a 2L stein.
This stuff is delicious. I had a few Sat afternoon at the tap room. Nate Dogs was there too. Double win!
@KarlHungus - would you mind if I posted that to Facebook (and/or Twitter) with proper courtesy to your BA Handle (or you can e-mail me you real name to <email@example.com>).
Go for it, and my real name is Tim Schlee.
please bring back the esb. thanks.
The hype is real with this one. Could drink a thousand of these, you guys.
really lookin' forward to the weekend
Anybody seen this in the DSM area yet?
Just finished my 1st Fest Bier. Delicious. Now if there was a Bavarian style bier hall serving this out of 1 liter steins I would be in heaven.
Yes, this one is quite good. While I'm a fan of Summit, their Oktoberfest is hands-down and going away my favorite beer they brew and my favorite Oktoberfest beer. Would love to see this one as a regular season!
Was this a a real small batch brew? Can't get this in northern Mn for some reason when we could get the other Unchained...
I picked up some at the HY Vee on Fluer Dr in Des Moines last Friday. Great beer Summit!
took a while for me to see this one, maybe it's just slow going out?
Separate names with a comma.
