Texas is a big state. It kind of depends on where you're going. There is some good stuff in Austin, Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio that can only be purchased in their respective cities.

Broadly speaking, you should be able to find beers from Real Ale, Saint Arnold, and Jester King in most major cities in Texas.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_breweries_in_Texas

That list and looking up the breweries on this website will help.
  3. Thanks for the info man. Time to start studying up. I'm heading to Kileen between Austin and Waco.

Drive to Austin is your best bet (about an hour drive). Killeen is a horrible place for craft beer, and anything else for that matter.

Might try finding a BA in the area that would be willing to do in person trades. Bring beer from Cali and do some trades.

  6. If anyone is from Texas let me know what you would be interested in from Cali. Gonna be driving.:)

What part of Cali are you from? I'll heading to LA in June and could possibly bring TX beer for trades.
  8. Yeah according to rainer's link looks like Austin is a pretty good place to check out.

  9. Nor cal. I'm from a small town about 45min from San Jose. 1:15 from San Francisco. Like 6-7hrs from LA. Lots of good breweries down south.

I hear there might be a couple good breweries up north too... Russian Something or Other jumps to mind. ;)
  12. I could probably head as far south as bakersfield. But let me know what you would be looking for.

So Santa Rosa is not north of San Jose and San Francisco, as the OP stated? Fascinating!!

  16. Yes. NE of "the city". No need for a new compass buddy.

Yea, I just need to buy some new reading comprehension. I thought he was referring to CA as a whole as "up north" against TX :p

Totally understood! Everything starts with Texas and moves out from there... as it should be. ;)
