Would love to see the Barleywine aged in BFT barrels
Frustrated about BBBW, especially since I will most likely be out of town on Jan. 25.
If you really want bottles, plan on being there a while and enjoying great beer with good people. Unfortunately, some have convinced themselves that they should be in and out then complain heavily afterwards. Take it for what it is and enjoy the day.
Beerpulse posted a list today which included "Bourbon Barrel Barleywine (2013)". I got the link from the kuhnhenn facebook page so I am assuming it is legit.

Uh oh Jon, stop doing press releases
Hope it's saved until January. So bummed I can't make solstice this year.
Hey FYI Kuhnhenns now have a B&B right across the street. Booked my room and see there are still a couple left... 100 yards from the front door. Hard to beat... Check the link on the bottom of their webpage.
This isn't a ticketed release correct? A buddy and I are planning on attending this this year. If we ant bottles is that release just on Saturday? Any info would be appreciated.
According to the website...Friday they will tap rare & cellared beers but the bottle release is only on Saturday. They open at 11am https://www.facebook.com/events/372350082900369/?notif_t=plan_user_invited
This will be my first year attending as well, but based on what I've read bottle sales are definitely Saturday only, and this is a non-ticketed event. Thursday and Friday will feature tappings of some of the Solstice beers, but no bottle sales.
Thanks for the info. Looking forward to this one. I really wanted to go to 4 Elf too but the wife graduates that day and she takes priority over beer. Looking forward to meeting some fellow BA's and hopefully set up some tastings before I leave for Grand Rapids in May.
Hitting them up Friday for sure to enjoy whatever they happen to pull out. Saturday is up in the air, which makes me sad, but I get out of one job at 1:30pm and have to be at the other job at 11:00pm. Not sure they would approve if I stumbled in drunk. Also not sure if I could be grown up enough to only stay a couple hours.
ill be going friday...Cant go Saturday as my Daughter is graduating from EMU that day...Hoping a couple of friends can hook me up with a few bottles from saturday, depending on limits..
Anyone on here up for organizing a bottle share on Friday night? It would be a nice way to meet everyone and enjoy a few quality beers.
Kuhnhenns doesn't allow outside bottles in the brewpub if that is what you mean. They used to, but some Chicago BAs ruined it for everyone.
No I meant Friday the night before at a local hotel or something. Not physically at Kuhnhenn.
I don't get it, the Solstice party is Friday night too so why wouldn't you hang out there? They're releasing cellared stuff and that usually means good stuff.
come on bro every beer related event MUST have a pre drinking party how else do we show off our beer dicks.
Ok so I'm most likely going to this on Saturday for the bottles...legitimately how early do I need to get there to attempt to get the full allotment?
My aunt lives in Centerline so I'm going to stay at her place the night before so I'll be plenty close
i am picking up a case of delusion by greenbush today and will bring some bottle to this to trade. i am looking for things on my want list, so check that out and let me know if you want to make something happen
Not that you dont know, but its starts Friday at 11am
Yup yup. I'll be there in full Christmas drinkin swag.
o why wouldn't you hang out there? They're releasing cellared stuff and that usually means good stuf
I plan on going to Kuhnhenn on Friday for part of the day, but just not all of it. I love Kuhnhenn and all their amazing beverages, but staying there all day would put a major dent in my bank account. Plus for me I get to see a bunch of people I haven't seen in months. It'll be nice catching up and enjoying a few beers I never can get in Illinois with them. Regardless it appears to be shaping up into a great event.
depends on the allotment which they have not released yet. if its a four pack of the big hitters each i see no reason to get there early, but if its case or cases i would get there by 7. I have a felling the meads will be 1 each and last year BB4D was 1/2 case so it may be less this year due to the choooo chooo hype train.
I'll probably be there about 11am as I'll be hungover from the night before.
looks like it will be an early, all day, lunch for me on that friday.
Bout time to shut this thread down....
Budget can't handle this in addition to 4elf and JP rare beer auction. Really want to get my hands on some BBBW though.
That seals the deal. The kids are getting BBBW from Santa!
You should adopt a family this year and get my kids BBBW, too!
so if i have to be somewhere else from noon to 1, theres no way i'm getting anything?
The beer is usually available well past 1, usually into the next couple days. Certainly a few of the super rares will be gone, but stuff like BB4D and maybe even the BW should be available.
BB4D ran out pretty early last year. Everyone assumed it would last days because it had in the past, and there was lots of whining.
I think it is impossible to say for the popular stuff unless you know how much is being released and the limits.
