[TN] Digging for some information on Calfkiller

I try to follow what's going on in the TN beer scene in case I'm ever in the area. There's a pretty good chance that I'll be heading there to visit some family this summer. Calfkiller is high on my list to check out when I'm there. Interesting and outside the box low ABV beers are right in my wheel house. Their website isn't all that helpful and other than beer reviews there really isn't all that much here on BA pertaining to them.

    Specific questions:
-Do the have a tasting room at their brew house? If so, do they fill growlers?
-Anywhere in Knoxville or Chattanooga that has their beer on tap? Again the growler question.
-What are TN growler laws anyway? Can I have any growler filled (OR law), or does it need to be branded to the establishment doing the fill (CA law)?

Any other useful tidbits about Calfkiller or any other TN breweries that I can get access to near Knoxville or Chattanooga is appreciated. Thanks in advance. Cheers!

Calfkiller's website is pretty stagnant -- their Facebook page is a better source of info. Really enjoyed their beers I've had!

  3. First off, I love these guys! I'm not 100% positive, but I thought they did not have a taproom. Also, TN does not have any stipulation on what growlers are filled (if there is, then no place I go enforces it). We do have a weird alcohol split so only low grav beer can be sold separate from above 6.3% beer, but as far as I know the only Calfkiller I've ever seen is low grav. I'm not around Knox or Chattanooga but I'm sure if you email the brothers at calfkillerbeer@yahoo, they can give you more details.

    Cheers

Granted, I have not been in Knoxville in awhile (heading back in about a week though), but when I left to come to Chicago last year, there wasn't a fantastic craft scene. Not horrible, but certainly not great. Unless something else has popped up recently, specifically in Knoxville there is Woodruff brewing downtown, Marble City (check Bearden Beer Market) and Smokey Mountain brewing. Smokey is bottling, and I'm pretty sure you can get growlers (there are also 6 packs, mini-kegs, etc.) and I know Woodruff fills growlers. They're worth checking out, won't blow your mind though. Haven't heard of Calf Killer until now though, maybe I can make a day trip...

Edit: Marble City Brewing is now becoming Saw Works apparently... I've been missing a lot up here!
