Number 12, Victor's Memoriale Altbier was released today at the Taphouse. Two bomber limit, no growlers.

    What everyone's take on #12?
  4. What's your opinion? I am stiill going to buy it no matter how you rate it. I'm already in for the first 11, can't stop now.

Starting to think about how to approach the consumption of the 15. The obvious choice is a "one sitting" vertical, but eben with small samples (2-3oz), is it too many beers for one tasting?

For those interested in the "15 Beers For 15 Years" series Two Brothers is throwing a "Revelry Party" at their Roundhouse location (205 N. Broadway, Aurora, IL 60505) starting at 6 PM on Thur., Nov. 8th. They will have ALL 15 beers in the series on tap for the evening, as well as the inaugural tapping of their new release, "Revelry" (Imperial Red Ale/9.5% ABV). There's even a buffet...A BUFFET! Tickets are $10 in advance (available at the Tap House in Warrenville or the Roundhouse in Aurora) or $15 at the door the day of the event.

The only thing that sucks about this is that it's taking place on a Thur. when it could have just as easily been scheduled for a Fri. or even Sat. night, making it easier for more people to attend. This silly weekday date will not stop me, though! I am definitely going to be there.

Per the info listed on their website:

"Revelry defined: "Lively and noisy festivities, especially when drinking alcohol." That is what is asked of all our fans, to come out and toast with us. The Revelry Party will be held at Two Brothers Roundhouse, 205 N. Broadway Aurora, IL. Starting at 6pm with the tapping and toast to Revelry and to start the party off right. Tickets go on sale October 1st for $10 in advance and $15 at the door. They will be available for purchase at Two Brothers Tap House and Roundhouse. Tickets will get you entry to the party that will have all of the limited retro beers on draft, a fantastic fall dinner buffet, and live music! This party will be a warm up for the next 15 years!!"

  6. Good God that would have saved me from buying all these mediocre bottles
  7. FYI, not trashing talking but I had a couple of friends attend a 2-Bros event earlier in the year at the Roundhouse, and the cover was only for admission. Buffet and beers were "extra".
  8. Most 2 Brothers events, if there is a buffet it is included in the ticket price and beer is extra.

15, Revelry is an imperial red
  11. If #13 is a Scottish Ale I ask why? Why make two Scottish Ales in 15 beers?

I still stand by #1 being the only good-to-great beer (though I don't think I had the first Scottish Ale [or the second]). And it's still on shelves somehow.

Being a wet hop it's different but damn fantastic I must say. I'd prefer it over hop juice IMO

Was wrong about this...tasted more like A Little Sumpin' Sumpin' from Lagunitas. Pretty good with excellent color, but wanted more of that signature Two Bros. taste...not a clone of another brewery's beer.

Was disappointed in the Two Bros. Revelry Party. When you advertise an event and make the statement that ALL 15 beers from the limited release series will be on tap, then I expect ALL 15 to be on tap. Unfortunately, this was not the case and only certain beers from the series were available; leaving some of my favorites (Bonfire Dunkle Weiss, Brown Fox, Incinerator, Pahoehoe) off the list. In their place were the regular Two Bros. offerings that are available year-round and not the reason I drove an hour to Aurora.

Great space, good food, awesome band...just not a fan of false-advertising. I don't think it's being nit-picky when someone says they are going to do something and then people get mad when that someone doesn't do said thing. At least have an explanation as to why you lied to everyone.

  24. From Fountainhead's Facebook Page:

    Tuesday Nov. 20th

    • Our friends at Two Brothers Brewing have been celebrating their 15-year anniversary this year by releasing 15 special brews to represent each year they have been brewing. Earlier this summer we had a Rooftop Party and tapped 7 of the 15 Annivesary Beers. Now join us for the second part of our Two Brothers Anniversary Party as we tap the remaining 8 brews.

Red Eye Coffee Porter (American Porter)
      Bonfire Dunkle Weiss (Dunkelweizen)
      Old 1713 (Scottish Ale)
      Oh Brother! (Tripel)
      Victor's Memorial Altbier (Altbier)
      Export-91 Shilling (Scottish Ale)
      Heliocentric (Braggot)
      Revelry (Imperial Red Ale)
  25. Just picked up #14. Heliocentric at Binnys Skokie. I imagine its pretty much everywhere this week.

That's great...but this event is at an entirely different location that is not owned by Two Bros. The question still remains about why they advertised that all 15 of their limited release beers would be on tap at their Revelry Party this past Thur. when that clearly wasn't the case.

Here are some possible answers! Maybe they thought we're all illiterate and didn't think anyone would read the description of the party posted on their website stating that all 15 beers would be on tap. Maybe they thought they're already tapping a lot of beers and we'd be too stupid/distracted to notice that a good portion from the series were missing. Maybe they're taking a cue from 3 Floyds and think they are above their fans and can do whatever they want. Maybe they thought that false advertising was a good way to run a business.

It's just beer dude. False advertising is a bitch. The world is an imperfect place. Life goes on...
  28. No...that's bullshit. It would be one thing if we were talking about a taplist at a local bar, but if the brewery advertized that all 15 of these beers will be on tap and they only serve half, that's pathetic. But we are talking about Two Brothers, so I don't know why I'm at all surprised.

Hop Juice is much better. The bottle of Heavier Handed I had this year was extremely malty and lackluster.

Hmmm... Idk how to reply to this. R u being sarcastic or serious? I would normally lead toward sarcasm but I didn't see the all important smiley face with the wink at the end of your post. I'm puttin my money on sarcasm...at least I hope ;)
  31. No, totally serious. :):D:cool:o_O:p

If Three Floyds did something like that, we'd never hear the end of it.
  32. That's why you don't see a two brothers thread every week. I live very close to both locations but they ate very average at beat! :(

Not sure how much difference between the two styles people believe there is, but number six is a Scotch Ale, not a Scottish Ale. I've had two of these (the scotch ale and the dunkelweiss) and thought they were pretty stellar.
  35. Chrixsus

    Chrixsus Savant (325) Illinois Dec 13, 2011

3 Floyds DID do something similar...not false-advertising...but they ran out of beer an hour-and-a-half BEFORE the closing of the Great Taste of the Midwest (one of the greatest/most popular beer fests in the U.S.) knowing full well that they are a popular brewery and that everyone would want samples from them. It's that "we're hot shit so we can treat our fans like garbage and they'll just take what we give them" mindset that I hate.

You say, "Eh, it's just beer"...but you must appreciate it more than the average person or you wouldn't be here. And what is trivial to one person may be important to another. What if you bought tickets to a NFL game and the game just ended at half-time? What if something you were excited about turned out to only be half of what you thought was being offered? You probably wouldn't be too thrilled if you had spent your time, money, and energy on it.

Yeah, life goes on...but does that mean everyone should stand by and accept mediocrity? If that were the case then we'd all still be drinking Bud Light at the local townie bar

I sent Two Bros. an e-mail calling them out on their BS and received the following reply:

"We are truly sorry for the inconvenience that we may have caused you, and apologize for the false advertisement. In the craziness of planning our party we failed to double check with inventory on these archived beers, some of the favorites had been promised out to other events without our knowledge. Yes, we dropped the ball!"

I truly appreciate that at least someone took the time to offer an explanation, so perhaps there is hope for them yet!

    And once again I ask:

For someone who doesn't care you're spending an awful lot of time posting that you don't. And since you never answered my question, don't have any kind of argument, and no worthwhile insight in to this conversation, I'll assume that you're a person who likes to have others think for him and just accepts whatever is given to him. It's a good thing that everyone is not like that or we'd be in one helluva mess.

You are right about one thing...beer is beer is beer. In the grand scheme of things it probably doesn't weigh in as heavy as issues like the threat of nuclear war, divorces between actors, or a zombie invasion...but here we all are on this site anyway, right? The main point of my argument was not beer so much as respect between human beings...between brewer and beer-drinker, corporation to consumer. No brewery would be where it is today (3 Floyds, 2 Bros. Lagunitas, Stone, Rogue, Founders, Great Lakes, etc.) without the fans supporting them. I don't think it's too much to ask that they be accountable for their actions, forgo the holier-than-thou attitude, and give us some respect.
