West Texas Shootout Homebrew Competition

    Posted this in homebrew section as well, but want to post it in the Southwest Forum also.


    Hi folks I'm Jeff Bell with the Big Country Homebrewers in the Abilene, Texas Area. We are starting our own competition this year and would love to have some of your beers to judge.     Competition highpoints:

    Entries accepted: August 17 - September 1.
    First round judging September 1 - September 30.
    Second round judging October 1 - October 5.
    Final judging and awards ceremony October 6.
    Cost: $7 for the first entry; $5 for each additional entry.
    Specialty category is anything brewed with pecans.
    There is a limit of two entries per BJCP sub-category.

    Each entry for the competition must consist of three bottles. All bottles must meet the standard AHA national competition requirements. Every bottle must be 10 to 14 ounces in volume, brown or green glass. Any markings on bottle caps must be covered with a permanent black marker. Bottles not meeting these requirements may be disqualified. Brown bottles are encouraged for maximum protection from light. All bottles must be clean, and provided with a properly completed bottle label attached by a rubber band . DO NOT TAPE OR GLUE TO AFFIX THE ENTRY LABELS TO THE BOTTLES .

    A completed Entry Information Form must accompany all entries. Include entry fee payment as well. Make check or money order payable to Big Country Homebrewers Association.

    Just don't mail it from Austin or else they'll take your money and not judge your beer!
