Much better...Grand Cru started
My wife had a rough week at work, so I pulled some beers out that I knew she'd like. First up, delicious Cantillon.
Had a Hopslam first, which was amazing as usually. This was purchased to send as an extra. Couldn't part with it.
One more after this.
Drinking Boulevard Love Child #2
Watching Sound City w/ Mrs. Maction
It's been a long, cold day. Lots of shoveling this morning followed by a winter hike in the woods with an old friend of mine, followed by a little school work, a couple glasses of wine with another friend, and finally back home for a hot bowl of soup and a cold glass of Hoppyum.
Moving on to Michigan.
Wish I would've bought more of this ass-kicker! "'Settling" for a Firestone Walker Double Jack...
You cannot beat a beer like this for $5.99.
Old Ale battle, although it's one sided because Fruet is BB aged and I'm not fortunate enough to have the BB4d... Either way an amazing tasting and not the only brews we had by far. Our night included Humidor Double Black Ale, Immort ale, Long Strange.
Cheers BA! Pictures aren't working...
Starting off with a Rogue Double Chocolate Stout. Very tasty. Cheers!
Half growler of Diablo Rojo from Boneyard. It's pretty good.
What do you think of it? I saw they came here recently and haven't had a chance to pick any up.
How does that compare to the Tasmanian?
Solid, nothing mind blowing, but I have no problem drinking it.
Home from work and opened a nugget nectar, now onto a pure pineapple burst of flower power. Off to sleep after that
Giving this one a try for the nightcap:
actually better than I expected...pleasantly surprised.
Starting off my Saturday night the proper way...
Too lazy to post a pic... Smuttynose Robust Porter. My favorite cold weather session beer. Actually can session it year round.... cant get enough.
I like the Tasmanian better, but the American IPA is a close comparison. Just american hops vs Australian, absolutely a great beer!
Damn ended the night with a Affligem Tripel and a New Belgium Tripel think we agree the rankings should be as follows by style:
Sam Adams New World
New Belgium Tripel
Have had La Fin Du Monde and Chimay White too many times to count and would put those above or damn near equal to St. Bernadus but can really appreciate the different twist all of these had to them but sadly I can't get rid of these hiccups now.
Nice. I wanna pick up a sixer soon.
Moving on to Rogue Morimoto Imperial Pilsner. Definitely exceeded my expectations, very very tasty. Cheers!
Water now. Went to a new brewery by my house (Valiant Brewing Company) and had the 3 beers they had on tap (Pretty good). Went to the Tilted Kilt after and had a Goose Island 312 which was nasty imo.
That was one of the kegs at my wedding. Still love it.
Went to the Winter Brew Fest here on Chicago and got to try a bunch of local brews. My favorite of the night was from a new brewery named Begyle Brewery. They poured a red ale named Rua Irish Style Red Ale. Smooth & malty with a hop forward profile. I was really impressed with their IPA and Blonde beers too.
Also tried the lager from Half Acre. It was a typical lager, nothing more or less. But their Big Hugs stout was pretty amazing. Deep & creamy with chocolate and coffee notes.
Ended the night with Revolution's Repo Man Rye Stout. Outstanding. Light and nicely carbonated. The rye presence was just enough to give it some depth, but not over take the rest of the flavors. Very well balanced .
Last one for tonight
BCS Coffee. Phenomenal beer!!!
Did not know Free Will was bottling. I liked this beer the first time at Capones and every time it gets less inspiring. The sour was not great either
8 hour wait but totally worth it...
Russian River's Pliny The Younger
Started with Mikkeller Invasion IPA, Mikkeller 19, then HF Susan, HF Abner, Bunch of home brew, Anchorage white IPA, and lots of other HF goodness:
Forgot I had this in the fridge. Washing the 312 out of my mouth
Such a random call..."hey were doing 11' tonight!" Thanx guys @jeonsah, nasty31, awdturboiv
Finished brewing 6 gallons of beer! Duck Duck Gooze and Seizoen Bretta were followed up by these two, both excellent:
Cheers everyone, hope you're all having a great evening!
