I am generally enjoying myself and my company too much to be on the comp uploading and posting my pics the night I actually drink, so I just do it the next morning most of the time. I would say a solid 50% of this forum is what did you drink last night. Rest assured though, be it yesterday or today the beers were drunk and thoroughly enjoyed, so everybody's happy. Also had this yesterday and loved it.

Hooray for Presidents Day! I have today off so I'm at my favorite place having a Blind Pig. I'm just chillin, looking things up, reading and enjoying the day.

  6. New to BA; I polished off a bottle of Long Trail Coffee Stout. It's about 11 degrees here and it seemed like a good choice. Nothing too exciting; a little boozy - subtle chocolate/coffee hints. Well worth the $6 I paid for the pint! Thinking about opening a Mikkeller Beer Kopi this week sometime...

This really develops over time. I've had one that was around 2 years old, and I thought it was fantastic.

Still very impressed with Brewery Vivant's offerings.

  9. Im in Fl now (Atlantic coast, West Palm area) was hoping to pick up some CCB to take back to SC with me as I used to live in the Tampa area and miss CCB. I went to three stores and pretty much got shut out. Maduro brown everywhere, but pretty much nothing else. One bottle of Guava Grove (I passed), and even the Jai Alai selection was lackluster (the freshest batch was Dec 17th and most was mid Nov canning). I had heard the rumors that the Atlantic coast is bad for CCB but I didn't think it was that bad.

Just had this....a 2011 bottle from the cellar. I'd like to think of this as the bigger, beefier brother of a Chimay blue - a lot more malt with raisiny breadiness. Dark fruits galore. It had a very vinous and dry finish, and slightly phenolic through the finish, but nothing to take away from the beer - it still gets a solid 4.5. A very tasty, complex brew that I'd certainly visit again. Ages brilliantly!

  11. I'm drinking this really rare beer that nobody's probably heard of. It's called Bell's Hopslam.
  12. Got home from class to realize I missed the Flyers game..what a waste of my day.
This is numbing the stress caused by daily nonsense in the best way.

Bear Republic Hop Rod Rye. Delicious. Very forward on the rye.
  15. I'm in Orlando. Haven't had a chance to get out and do any beer hunting to see what it's like over here, but it's pretty %#*!%ing awesome to have Jai Alai on tap.

indeed. I DO love novelty / new things, including beers.

(Thanks for thinking I'm young! ha, at almost 41, my looks are now hinging upon the preservative qualities of beer.)

Enjoying the day off, preparing for the long barren wasteland that is March, April and May until the next holiday, Memorial Day. Drinking Perennial Fantastic Voyage...wish it had just a touch more coconut but this is excellent

Mussels with Cantillon Classic Gueuze mixed with Chardonnay to steam them open. Easy now, only used 1/2 a cup!

Oh, went to The Alchemist today and found out they canned their one millionth can this morning!
So, that's what I'm drinking right now.
  29. Now THAT sounds wonderful!
  30. :D No I haven't. I usually have a couple of good beers while I cook, but I think the "best" beer I ever used in a recipe was Ten Fiddy in an Irish Stew I made once

    And yes, it was good

  31. That does sounds great. When I visited the Publik House in Boston, MA they had a few different Clam/Mussel offerings in varying beers. Looked great, but I only had time for a couple of beers so didn't bother. but yes, I think shellfish in ales have been done for a while and are damn tasty

  32. I was curious because awhile ago I was watching an Italian special of the upcoming Italian craft beer movement, and seen a chef cook with it. It was actually used for a sauce for dessert and very interesting the used Cantillon.

    Old Ruffian barley wine.
Started off in a snifter for my review...

Then switched up to a pint to finish off this epic brew:

Every beer I've tried from Great Divide this past weekend (Titan IPA; Yeti, Espresso Oak Yeti, and Belgian Yeti Imperial stouts; and today's Old Ruffian barleywine) has been amazing. Highly recommended.
