Holy shit - how is Rare drinking?
In a not too uncommon 'Freudian-slip-like' move on my part,
I left at work Friday what I was supposed to do today.
Minor lottery-like win here. I'm so surprised...
So here it goes for poking around for another day...
Studying the weekend away so might as well sip on some brews.
Starting off with an Ale Asylum Contorter Porter.
I believe I read in another thread that Rare was a misprint and was actually "just" regular BCBS (you know you're a beer geek when.... you remember details like this )
Batch #87 fresh and boozy with fruit and leather taste. pretty damn complex and tasty.
This should even get better with some time on it. Cheers!
That is one cruel fucking misprint.
New Glarus should consider making this yearly (it's rotating years now.)
Such a great beer, much better than Two Women (never had the R&D version).
Sum yummy NN next!
Sticking with the SN theme
Flower Power with guitar practice equals a great Sunday!
I agree. So much better than Two Women. I'm not big on pilsners, but I'd drink this all summer if they offered it.
The last of my 2010 10-50s from the cellar. Poured flat with no head whatsoever, and is still at fridge temperature. Mostly pulling molasses and dark chocolate in the aroma, and no hint of the 98IBUs worth of hoppy bitterness anywhere (not that it showed much even in fresher cans). It tastes of dark, sweet, chocolate and dark fruits, with faint bitterness and very slight hops on the finish. It was well worth the wait!
Which LOF beers may show up.
Hell, I probably would just drink it all year round if possible.
I would guess their two most recent LoF releases, Cascara Quad and Heavanly Fejioa Tripel. The Quad sounds interesting with the coffee infusion.
Started off the day with some CCB Cubano Espresso brown on tap at the brewery paired with some pulled pork with a side of black beans and rice after going to the climbing gym
HUGE thanks goes out to minnesotaryan for the hook up!
Weyerbacher Insanity. I may do an Insanity-BCBS black & tan.
I guess I'll one right now
Blizzard-y Sunday, but enjoying some proper ass beers with the wifey while playing a game of Risk. I know, I'm a real animal:
I cracked open my newly bought Growler of Freedom's Edge 844 Wyoming Uncommon. I'll be back later with my thoughts and a review.
my wifey don't let me play with her no more
yeah, the server explained that it was a typo.. probably just an honest mistake, though some were suggesting they were using the old bait-and-switch tactic to get more people in. Either way, I was more than happy to drink BCBCS and Cherry Rye
edit: I split a bottle of Rare w/ my dad on father's day and it was amazing, but that was last June.. not sure how it's drinking now but I'd imagine it's still holding up very well
Just had a heady topper and a Pliny the elder! Head to head, both great!
Maine Beer Lil One to start a homebrew day
Beautiful day here in LA. Cheers!
Seems appropriate for a snowy Daytona 500...
Brewday! Hoping to perfect my ginger IPA, "Strange Skies." In the meantime, the lady and I are enjoying a growler of NEBCo IST. Lovely afternoon.
Bottled in November. Tastes great, aroma on the other hand is horrible. Not sure what happened.
My new favorite from GLBC...
This beer might not only be my new favorite from GLBC...it my be my new favorite double IPA...it's sooooo good.
I wonder which glass is yours
A little Sucks while chillin' out on a lazy Sunday.
I think she lets me feel better about myself.
No, it's not Sucks or NN by any stretch, but I'll be damned if this doesn't hit the spot at the end of the day...
She loves the coffee almost as much as I do, but confessed that she would be "out" if she indulged this early. She actually told me that Ellie's Brown and Sucks are now her two 'sessionable' favorites. She's learning.
My first Crooked Stave. Just awesome!
