Raspberry Ananke 2012.
Time to break in my new glassware in style...
Also, Ellie would like some attention.
If my math is correct, you have to drink 5.714 Headys a day (every day) in order to keep that beer from getting more than 3 weeks old on you.
And that's if you got the beer the day it was canned!
Better drink up....or trade quick
Fresh very fresh Abrasive
Kellerweis now, but Im headed to the Beer Study in Chapel Hill to try Olde Hickory The Bean, Birdsong Doin Thyme, and NoDa Cold Crash.
Too funny, I do the same thing whenever I'm in my home office and there's a corporate conference call! (It's the only thing that keeps me sane during those worthless things.)
Victory Hop Wallop
You hit the nail on the head lonewolfcry!
How is NN this year, fine sir?
Heavy Seas Mutiny Fleet Bourbon Oak Below Decks barleywine...
Some appropos music:
Actually saw these guys live a few years back - lol - opening for Scar Symmetry, among others. Had to get past the lead singer's parrot-on-the-shoulder, but they were really a lot of fun live. Great energy.
I'd be remiss if I didn't give these guys the nod, though (PotC video version):
Shiver me timbers!
Still at work since 5am
I love this beer so much I wanna marry it.
Tonight's taste test:
proves to be NO CONTEST...
2011 by a landslide!!!
Unless this is a bad batch of 2012...word to the wise, AGE your WnB!!!
lump of coal followed by founders RIS
So what are the biggest differences between the two?
I'm drinking this stuff like a fiend because by the weekend it'll be considered "too old" and won't be worth crap!!
Highland Brewing Co. Thunderstruck Coffee Porter
If I could suggest my friend Ibai's music from the Basque Country, Ilbeltz! He wrote a 1000 page book in Basque to go along with the cd, which is about a basque Pirate!
A great friend, Ibai is, and a great musican!
Gonna enjoy some of this before I hit the bowling alley and PBR becomes the most flavorful option available.
Drink on for me will ya sir?
If I could suggest this instead
That looks so good I think I'll have one too!
The coffee is waaay more pronounced in the 2011 batch, which almost doesn't make sense...perhaps they changed the recipe?
so i started with this. nice. i can recognize a quality beer even if it's not really my thing. maybe i'm not an imperial stout guy.
and then I had this
OMFG are you s***ing me? Scha-wing!
reminds me of the bosco or hershey syrup at the bottom of a glass of chocalate milk - that will get you buzzed.
Some Left Hand Barrel Aged Wake Up Dead Imperial Stout as I listen and watch the new High on Fire video. Went in with somewhat low expectations for this but definitely like this one. For $8.50 a bomber, I'd happily buy this again.
Boulevard Smokestack Series Double-Wide IPA
Sierra Nevada Ruthless Rye. Yum.
Great brew but I prefer Hunts vs Heinz. It took me years to finally admit it.
I will! BTW, it should be available at Capone's if you get up that way in Philly. (Matt always seems to get this stuff first before anyone.) I was talking to the guy at Troegs yesterday and he was expecting another week or two before it hits the shelves through distribution.
Thats an interesting choice!
A little Ten Fidy to start the night off right.
